Holley hp and dominator efi ecu for LSX
#62
its an issue with all LS coils..
but you probably wont see the high cylinder pressures Naturally asipirated that will cause the issue
the description of the problem...
As cylinder pressure increases, it becomes harder for the spark to jump across to the prong, when this happens, the coils are working harder, as they do this, they are creating some kind of electromagnetic field around themselves??? and this causes the coil to back feed up to 200v into the ecm, on a 5v circuit.

I think some issues are also comming from plug wires. There are some new coils being tested that will be a bolt on replacement for Ls coils that should solve the issues.
The two kits I have I really like.
For $1500 bolt on set up you are not going to find better

I was all on the Holley bandwagon even thou some of the key features were not available yet, and still aren't.
Luckily the project had to have the aluminum floor and firewall redone in steel, to pass NHRA rules, or I would be in the boat with a few of the guys on here.
It will defenantly be a MS3 for the 3rd gen camaro project and Mike's pt88 LS mustang.

Plus $550.00 for 8 of the standard 103mj IGN1a coils from DIYautotune, or the newer more powerful versions (haven't seen a price listed yet)from the Firecore guy.

about how much is it to get into one, ie complete with 02 sensor and wiring?
thanks

Thanks sound engineer, I was looking on summitracing for the wideband o2 sensors but didnt find a part number.
Sound like we just unscrew the factory o2 sensors from the GM harness and use those bungs.
So Im putting a 408 stroker ls1 in a Mustang for now. I have a mail order tune and a stripped down factory harness that current performance modified for me. Got it all running and its super rich and runs like ****.
My delimma is $500 for a dynotune, $750 for a EFI or HP tuner and seperate wideband or the $2000 for the holley system. Just looking to get all the part numbers I need to get the dominator system hooked up. I figure that I will need to tune it now and then later with upgrades and then if I move up to a turbo setup I will need a better system than factory ECU so I should just invest money now to save in the long run.
ECU
Main Harness
Power Harness
O2 sensors
Do I need the injector harness? Can I use my relocated coil setup that uses longer wires or will it give issues as other have had. I think I can run fans off the holley or would I need a seperate thermostat and system to turn them on at 180 degrees

If you buy the LS1 Holley. It comes with EVERYTHING YOU NEED. The HP EFI is around 1500 with the harnesses that you need to make it go. plugs into factory sensors, and you hook up 4? loose wires in the harness to power, switched, ground etc and go... I believe its Part #550-602

if you buy the HP Package you get everything you need,
If you buy just the HP, you need to also buy the harnesses..
the HP can only use one wideband...
The Dominator only comes standalone, and you need to buy the Master Power harness, the Engine Harness, the Injector Harness, and if you want a second wideband- the Secondary Auxiliary Harness..plus you need to buy the Wideband o2's as well from Holley..
neither system uses narrowband o2's...it strictly uses the wideband o2's

holley hp and t56
I just went ahead and ordered the Holley HP but now Im thinking about the T56 sensors that the Holley doesnt control. There is a VSS sensor and a reverse lock out. Does the Holley read VSS or not. The Dominator reads the 4l60e but not the HP. So how will I get my speedo and tach gauges to work if the HP doesnt read VSS signal.
Also is there a way to hook up the other sensors on the T56, reverse lockout can be a switch right.

tach works by connecting any aftermarket tach to pin J1A28
as far as the speedo....you need the Dominator and the transmission harness to drive an electronic speedo(or atleast the J4 connectors and a few wires).
the HP will not drive a speedo
I do know that you can send your VSS signal into the Holley and it will read in your datalogs....but you cannot control the speedo with the HP or the Avenger.
in my case... VSS uses "IPU Speed" and its set to MPH, 40pprot...works perfect.
My speedo signal actually comes from my TCI 6x Controller as I was using it before I swapped over to the Holley EFI.
*edit*
had a typo... I said J3, I meant J4 connector for the transmission
