Hp tuners or EFI live - Which one is better - Looking to buy
My best friend wants to buy tuning software and is ready to purchase. He asked me to get some input on what was the better software/ ease of use. Pros & cons of both? What do you guys think? We are getting a book on tuning/how to and both of us are going to try to learn.
Recommendations, please & thanks guys.

If you're buying a book, it will be aimed at one package, since the layout of all the packages are differant. Some are package are more supported by the users them others, but other have much better support from the writers. They each have their own features. Any one of the packages will do what you want. As far as which is easier to use, it depends on your mind set, its not any differant them computer programing, would you ask which is easier to use, visual basic or Visial C++, or would you ask, which would give me the better result? In that case, I would prefer modular 2, but it doesn't have the nice gooey interface of the others. So if you're starting from scratch, download the demos from each of the sites and see which one suits you best

Hp tuners looks nice and the efi looks kinda cheap. But I guess I will try the efi trial thing and see if HP offers the same thing just to look at. IMO looks like efi offers good support for theirs, I wonder how often these companies update their stuff.

How about a new public release. You have 99% of your users using the beta release. I'm tired of not being able to open and edit those files with my serial cable software that I have multiple platforms licensed on. And don't tell me I should have upgraded it. Your co. said it would continue to support serial cable usere with software updates. It's been over 2 years. No software should be in beta that long.

I downloaded the demo and dont really see the point. Its not demoing anything theres nothing to check out or tinker with to try to get the feel of what your getting yourself into. Ive kinda been leaning towards HPT because it seemed more user friendly but the demo is bumming me out

What exactly are you looking for? There are several binary files to view in the samples folder as well as a scanner log found in the same samples folder so that you can toy around with. If you are looking to edit/read/scan your own vehicle thats something you would actually need our interface to do.

EFILive V7.5 software
When you install the software, there are some sample log and tune files captured from various vehicles which you can view/edit.
Here are stock Pontiac files captured using EFILive, your vehicle is probably in this list.
