I've never got good gas mileage out of my set-ups. I have a new engine and turbo set-up now with E85. Only getting about 10mpg staying off it and 8.5mpg when getting on it here and there. This is city and highway mixed driving too. Wondering if raising or lowering the timing or airfuel would increase this some.
Leaning out the airfuel will gain mpg. Doing it at idle, tip in and part throttle will get you the best mpg response to your changes. More lots and lots of timing at cruise(like 40* or more) will really help.

Old post I know. I get 17mpg, mix of city/highway when I had 60lb injectors. A little less 15 on my 80lbs. Going to experiment with more time at cruise, I already run lean during cruise 15 to 16 AFRs.
Any progress with you getting mpg?

Some info here. One guys says E85 burns faster but longer which sounds like a contradiction to me.

Anyway, some say better mileage from a few more degrees of timing and leaning it a bit past stoich in the idle and cruise ranges. Good luck.

The reason you get less gas mileage with E85 is because it has less BTU's than gasoline. You might gain 1 or 2 MPG by leaning the AF ratio, and the 105 octane of E85 gives you a little more of a safety net than gas, but would it be worth the risks?
I think it may burn longer much like alcohol.[/I], I also think it burns cooler and produces less emissions, but has a bigger boom in the combustion chamber due to it being like a higher octane fuel. correct me if I am wrong. there have been some tests done that I found interesting.
When converting from gas to E85 compression ratio is an important factor in getting all the power possible from the fuel. If you raise your compression ratio from 9:1 to 10:1 at the same boost level you get better mileage and peak power, but you can't easily go back to gas.
