Default Which Computer should I use

Hi Guys,
Have a question just finishing up my 89 S10 Blazer 6.0 LQ9 with 243 heads all of the bolt on are 99 Corvette, throttle body, TAC Module, Gas pedal, intake, injectors etc. I'm also running a 4L80 Trans. with an aftermarket harness made for my application with Drive by wire. Question is I have the 99 Corvette computer which is obviously LS1 also has 6 speed, am I better off doing a segment swap to get my 4L80 to work then tune from there or should I get say a computer from a 2500 3500 Silverado with 6.0 and 4L80 and just use that, the other question is will truck program give correct signal to corvette TAC module Drive by wire . I know the Silverado is Drive by wire but will it work with my corvette parts. The harness I had made is Blue and Red connectors. Also bought HP Tuners

Thanks

John

Wow 37 Views and no help,

How about this does a C5 Corvette and Silverado Blue and Red Computer share the same pin out on the TAC Module. I'm thinking if it does I shouldn't have a problem, will the truck computer run the Corvette throttle body using a Vette TAC Module

Thnx
John

As far as I can remember.....have a 4l60e segment flashed in to the pcm, use "reverse shift mod" on the 2-3 solenoid using a relay and some dtc changes to control the 4l80e better than an actual 4l80e segment will ever do. Do a search for "4l80e segment swap" and you'll find some better answers along with some wiring explanations.

Hope this helps.

If it were me, I would use the truck tune (with drive by wire and 4L80E) as the base tune - you can still use the corvette PCM - just do a full flash of the truck tune. You will have to set up the base tune for your injectors etc, but it would be the easiest starting point in my opinion...

Thats what i was thinking to, but will the truck program run a Corvette TAC and gas pedal or are truck and Vette Tac modules different as far as the way they are wired and operate

If it were me, I'd go with the HD van PCM and harness, and use a cable
throttle (up through 2003, at least, Savana HD came with the 6.0, 4L80,
cable throttle combo).

No help for you on compatibilities of GM DBW TBs. Electric throttle is the
devil, though, generally speaking.

Recently, I saw a thread (I think in EFILive forum), where they were discussing that exact thing and had wiring diagrams and stuff attached... it was somone else doing a swap. I found the thread searching for something else, and wasn't really inerested at the time... I'll see if I can find it again.

Here you go... there is a pdf part way down that might help you. Its from a 2004 truck and vette, but hopefully there is something there for you.

Looks like from the PDF file on EFI Live that Pedal from truck to Corvette wiring is different but TAC looks the same, Hmmmm. Still confused I think rather then bother with all of this its going to be easier to look into doing a segment swap, adding my 4L80 trans to my Corvette computer that has 6 Speed now. Everything on my truck is from a 99 Corvette took it all from same car, PCM, TAC, Gas Pedal and Throttle Body, the MAF is from an 04 Corvette 5 wire which my new harness is wired for.
I just bought HP Tuners so I'm thinking I should be able to do that, also need to disable VATS to.

Look over this thread. Unless things have changed, you won't want the 4l80e segment.....at least, I didn't.
