Default A4 to M6 swap PCM tune

Hey everybody,

I am getting things together to do a A4 to M6 swap with someone here on the board and want to know what is the cheapest way to get an M6 tune on my PCM after the swap. I have a 98 Z28, and no tuning software. Would it be best to find someone from the board in my area who can load a tune into my PCM? Would I be able to go to the dealership and have them load a tune? If they would be able to, I know it would cost me about $100 from a dealer as I had to get my PCM reflashed a year ago, but that was just for another A4 tune. How about having a mail order tune done? Thanks in advance for anyone's input.

Scott

Emailed you, Ed--thanks for the reply.

So, anyone else, is a mail order tune my best bet?

Didn't get it.

As far as "best bet", that's debatable. But a A4 to M6 swap is no biggie. Send me an email and we'll discuss.

Ed, I've found that sometimes my email gets sent to spam boxes. I checked and it was sent successfully. Look for wildolivetree1117@yahoo.com. Thanks.

the dealer can only program per vin. (well they can get a vci number but its a PITA to get one and to be honest I cant see that happening for a 6-speed swap anyway.. its geared for new cars with special issues)

so if you found a dealer willing to reprogram it to a vin with a 6speed you would be fine but the bcm would see an issue. best bet is to find someone local or mail the pcm as already suggested

Thanks for the replies, guys. Looks like I will look into mail order tuning or someone here on the board who lives close by.

not sure what your emissions laws are but for us, when you flash with another vin you end up failing duw to incorect vin.
best bet is to have a tuner do it or get a vci number(good luck with that)
