Default ASR light always on - switch is dead

Ok, so i did a search here but couldn't find anything.

I don't remember when this started, as i don't drive the car much anymore.

The "ASR OFF" light is lit on the cluster. The switch will illuminate upon startup, but then the light goes out, and the switch does nothing. The car is not throwing any codes, and the ABS and BRAKE lights are off. Everything works as it should, even the cruise control, but i'd like to get that damn light off the dash! If anyone has any suggestions, i'd be open to them.

Also, I've read that you can determine more from a TECH2, but i'd rather not pay a shop to mess with it. Side note - how specific can they diagnose these codes with a TECH2?

Thanks in advance.

There's a big thread about intermittent lights, mine is constant.

You might find some answers if you search. GL.

I am in the same boat... Been trying to figure it out for years. I haven't taken it to anyone, but I may this summer. Everything works fine, just no ASR, "ASR Off" light is on, and ABS works normally along with everything else.

I've cleaned the grounds everywhere with no success btw. I've heard it could be the big control module hooked to the brake lines, but not for sure.

I have the same problem. I just went to start the car after winter storage, only thing different was a frost tune I just had donebut I doubt that they did anything to change that.

I am investing in a pretty good pcm scanner this summer, does abs stuff too, hoping that will lead me in the right direction as to what is wrong. If it doesn't, I guess I'll be taking it somewhere after all these years...

ASR will fault out if the startup checks fail - things
like an open circuit on the "gizmo" will do that, as
well as ABS faults.
