might be ressurecting an old idea but... lean cruise how to do it??
Well after several hours of endless searching on several sites, including efi live, hp tuners, ls1tech of course. I have not been able to find anything conclusive on this matter. Seen people post that you have to combine the v body platform code from a holden and a stock f body platform pcm in order to get lean cruise to work. Seen Frost tuning claim its possible to unlock such cals in tunercat obdII and then be able to tune the tables in hpt. Seems as this is a hush hush topic without anything conclusive, to the best of my knowledge of course. Would anyone care to shed some light on the matter? Via this thread or via pm im curious how to get this to work, i know its possible with the proper software and such. Appreciate the help in advance

if you have E10 in your tank then you are about 15.3 now
If you want to set it for 16.5 and run E10% you would be over 17 to 1. I just don't see how the engine is able to get a good MBT. To me it seems about the same as adding EGR to an engine.

check out the old OBDI stuff its been unlocked in many of the gm cals. it works but keep in mind unless you do alot of hwy driving your wont notice the improvement. I think the ave was around 5% with 90% hwy driving
If you know hex you can enable it. last time I checked it was pretty much spelled out in a few forms

It has a platform check in the OS so if its an f-body it disables the function. holden platforms will work but from what ive heard (yes heard).. its not as simple as going into efilive and flipping the platform select as this does not truly allow the function... there is something underlying that does not change in efilive platform selection.
the way to do it is go into the hex of the OS itself and allowing the code to allow lean cruise to apply

That's is what I have gathered as well. It has got to be a bit more challenging than buying TC and enablijg the cals to enable it to run. I have access to hpt, that's what my tuner uses, can anyone tell me a little more on the TC method?

The efilive side to this is running some .cax files (which I have) to turn this on. Then also really writing the actual hex code in the OS, which I have no to clue how to do. If anyone would care to share a hpt LC tune with me that I can adapt to my setup. Please pm me.

Aside from running open loop, the easiest solution is to use a more cautious right foot and slow down 5mph. I'd be willing to bet driving more conservatively and doing 5 over instead of 10 over can easily net you 1~2 mpg on average. For a driver who does 12k miles per year and is concerned about money, that 1~2mpg equates to ~$13 per month. So, whether you tune differently or drive differently, it's not a major difference when all is said and done. And if $13 per month is a big deal, then I'll use the Ferrari logic....don't drive the car if you can't afford the maintenance.
Lean cruise really isn't worth the time/effort IMO.

I had it enabled for a while. On road trips thru the mountains I didn't see much improvement in MPG.
I went back to open loop, commanding what I want in the cruise areas.
As already said, the best mileage improvement is less right foot.

After some adjustments, I'm stuck at 28.5ish mpg and would love to see over 30 mpg in my f-body. My other cars can do well over 35, but they don't have the power there when it's needed. I'm going to see what I can do with this... but I'll try open loop first, I suppose.

The mpg improvement is not spectacular, like was said above, you can achieve better with careful use of your accelerator foot...
you got a muscle car (modded with cam/stall) and you want to improve your mpg (rather than your hp)...!?!?

For TC it is a patch. You check a box to enable it. Of course you have to then edit some tables. If you check on the Monodax site the settings for lean cruise that were used down under are posted there.
