only way car start is if the scan tool is connected
Ok I have a 99 Trans am and after a heads, intake/tb and tune I have a crank no start, when i turn the key to the on position all i get is solid blinkers and security light goes on and off. SO since it cranks it cant be VATS but get this if i plug the odb-2 scanner tool in i get all lights and car will start. I'm lost of what the problem could be, seems like a ground but i have no clue. can anyone HELP.
Things I checked, Ignition and starter Relay, grounds and battery is fully charged.

jump pin 16 to pin 4 in the data link connector with a testlight 16 is B+
or any source of 12v using pin 4 as a grd
check it at pin 5 also one is chassis grd the other is sensor grd
some diagrams show them swapped.
Pic is from EFI live showing pin5 Alldata shows pin4
The actual grd point is behind the left head.

ok just jumped pin 4 to 16, key off i get a bright 12v light and key in the on position i get a dim 6v light. Does pin 16 need 12v at all times to make the car start?

thanks sreve, I'm happy and pissed at the same time. i got a paper clip and grounded pin 4 and 5 and the damn car works, so now i have to find a chassis ground to ground both 4/5 and then put the car back together and get this thing back on the road.
