Tuning shift points with edit no luck help
I've been strugleing with my shift points for as long as i can remember. I have a stage four flp trans and i've been thinking about going to a manual shift but now finish line can't get me in for 5 weeks. And now i'm trying to figure why when i'm at the track when my car comes of the line it gos for about 10ft and shifts into 2nd and then feels like it down shifts. It's really fucked up and i can't figure it out. I would like to here were you guys changed your values and how much like the mph and rpm maybe im screwed up ther somewere. Ill look in my file and post were it is set at later. any help would be great.

Make sure you look at the TCC lock/unlock, force
it to never lock in 1st and 2nd, possibly lock at the
top of 3rd since you have a beefy TCC there. The
"double action" is probably kooky TCC activity.

At least, this is how it is presented in HPTuners.

So do you think i should turn off tcc lock up during shifts. That would be great if that is why i can't get my shift points right. I can lockup my convertor with my manual switch.

with my tcc off and transgo shift kit, 71K miles, i get about 200rpm early shifts ALWAYS, all conditions (warm, hot, 225F HOLY CRAP too hot).
i set them to 6800 and get 6600 consistently now.
much better than the original 6300 which yielded 6089 consistently (eflive 6.4 using low # of pids in fast sample mode (atv2 cable)).
can't explain it.
if you figure it out let me know.. Try the TCC lockup on shifts I'm going to turn it on for city/freeway driving since i drive slow now. I noticed its on from the factory.

samz28, we've shared a few threads on this short shifting. I am thinking/hoping that mine was related to a too loose converter. I measured up to around 15% slippage at the top of 2nd gear (actual mph/rpm vs. gear calculator). I think in extreme cases like that there is something in the PCM that says, this doesn't make sense, I'm shifting. As a test, lock up 2nd gear via edit & see where the 2-3 shift comes.. I bet it comes where commanded then. Midwest is retweaking my converter, so I'm going to check it after I get it back & reinstall.

yah it might be my 3500 ssf is being "Blown through" by the mods on my motor. I assume the 3500 rating etc is based on a car that is a baseline car.
(ie probably not all boltons/cam/tuned). So the behaviour of the verter is not an exact
science. You gotta guess whats gonna work if you put all your parts on at once.
im not gonna beat a dead horse, till the tranny goes , ima looking for rims.

Have you ever dynoed locked? That will give you a basic read on whether the converter is too loose for you setup, i.e. how I showed 35hp diff with my Midwest. Also, would very interesting if you could also log the top of 2nd gear WOT and give rpm &mph combinations, to see if you have as severe slippage as I did. Again, locking 2nd would also prove the point. As you know, I also got the shift where I wanted it by raising 200-300rpm.
