Default Need the ASA pcm pinout

I'm looking for the pinout info for the ASA racing pcm. I used to have an ASA
manual that had all the info plus the pinpout, but I can't seem to find it now.

thanks,

I have received an email from a fellow that may be able to provide me the pinout for
the ASA pcm. He may get back to me in a day or two.

Anyone else have the ASA engine handbook with the pcm pin-out?

I lost the manual that I aquired in 98. It had all the info that I need

I know this is a 12 year old thread, but does anyone have this info? I'm now looking for the pinout diagram for an ASA harness. I'm upgrading to a 2001 PCM, and using a 1998 Camaro diagram. So far so good, but on the ASA harness I have wires in the RED #64 and #70 locations but these are listed as "unused" in every 1998 diagram I've come across.

So I already have both of those diagrams. The problem I'm having is I'm upgrading an ASA car to a 2001 PCM. I have wires in the red #64 and #70 locations, but none of the 98 diagrams show these pins as being used. I was wondering if they hijacked them for something in the ASA harness.

All of my documents including Mitchell don't show any wires in 64 or 70. You may need to track them backwards in your harness to see where they go. I have my standalone harness spreadsheet that I use and it does not list them either.

What color are the wires?

A buddy had a diagram that showed the #64 as oil pressure sensor ground. Nothing for 70 though.

Likely grounds for coils, maf, engine sensors like tps, etc. Get a meter and ohm them out.

Ok thanks. Right now there's no engine in the car so I'll wait until everything is hooked up.

Then now is better time to check wiring when engine is out.

So I ended up with 8 extra wires by the time I finised. I checked continuity with all of these against every essential plug in the engine harness. I had continuity with 2 wires, 98 harness Blue 11 and Blue 77. Blue 11 went to the center wire on the 3 wire Alternator plug, and Blue 77 went to one of the outside wires on the Alternator plug.

I vaguely remember a couple 98 harnesses I stripped down had a wire that went out of the PCM and looped back into it serving no purpose whatsoever ever. Also note, the 98 engine temp sensor in the driver cylinder head has a 3rd wire (green) that feeds the dash gage.

Looking at the schematic for a 98 camaro Alternator, I'm thinking those 3 wires going to the Alt will be switched 12v, idiot light, charging gauge. Looks like the 98 alt grounds through the body so I don't think any of them could be a ground, but I'll try to trace them tonight. In the 2001 harness there is a pin marked "Alternator ON" which I didn't use. This could be used as my switched 12v to activate the alternator, correct?

Connect red pin 15 to the alternator L terminal, done. Never connect the L terminal directly to switched ignition. That will destroy the regulator. It must be connected to a 12 volt lamp or about a 1k ohm resistor.

Gotcha. So what will run the charging gauge? I dug up this schematic which looks like what I have currently:

Charge gage? Whats that? Factory f body has a dash cluster voltmeter. Wiring it like i said will make the alternator function as factory. Not sure why you would need anything else.

This is an ASA Stock Car, a tube framed race car. They built them using the 1998 Camaro Harness, and the GM "ASA" PCM, for which I can't seem to find a pinout but it's supposedly just a 1998 Camaro PCM. The car has an Alt voltage gauge (voltmeter) to show charging volts, and an idiot light for the Alt.

So wire the idiot light to the akternator L terminal and connect the voltmeter to any switched ignition.

Also, check your pm. I can save you some frustration.
