Question m6 to a4 swap stalls with desired rpm 0

I have a 2001 Z28 and I swapped M6 to A4, I re pinned pcm for all necessary controls and removed the m6 circuits. The problem is it starts and than stalls after a few seconds. The desired rpm with HP tuners scan reads 0 rpm. I have tables filled with 1000 rpm min. The previous tune ran flawless with the m6. Any help is appreciated... Oh and no dtcs....

Did you have the PCM switched from the M6 to the A4 software segment/OS?

Sorry I do not know the procedure.

Perhaps one of the tuning experts can explain or link to an existing thread. (I suspect this has been covered many times.)

I always flash the pcm over to an auto and then start tuning it. Way less problems and headaches that way.

Thats the best way to do it. The other way would be do a segment swap and then copy over the other tables by hand.

This is what I ended up doing.

My car was previously a M6, and even after the segment swap, I noticed during the log that the Desired RPM was 0, which had me using the throttle to keep it running. After doing some digging, I forgot to compile the rest of the Idle target cells in the tune. DOH!

A work-around for this in the time being is to go into the VCM scanner and command a certain target idle speed.

Hope this helps!

Yes, or find someone that can do the swap for you then get them to send it back. Just gotta make sure both files have the same OS IDs and be sure to maintain the VCM ID.

Segment swapper does not show up in any drop downs on my version of hp tuners, I tried everything. I don't have Pro version of Hp T is that why?

When's the last time you've updated your editor or scanner? They have updates almost daily. Gotta make sure you have the version (or more recent) in which the segment swap was enabled.

I just searched segment swaps on here and found someone who said HP tuners doesn't allow segment swaps with user software but (HPT) they will do it for free. Is that true?

Did you upgrade your version of the editor? If you read around more, you will see that they got out of the segment swapping business so to speak; it's on the user now they added the functionality to the editor.
