Does VHP lock or scramble your PCM? I think the HPP move tables around. I still have edit and I would want to be able to fine tune my PCM afterwards.

well everytime i make a change it says do not disturb. unlocking PCM. i'm pretty sure it answers the question. but i'll make sure by asking vinci. with the vinci programmer, you can make fuel and timing changes. to wither your stock programming or to one of their 6 other programs.

How do I enter in the GP?
Just mention it in the comments box while ordering it on the web?
I live overseas and this is the type of programer I was waiting for. I will be installing a Stealth II cam 224/220, .576/.581 116 lsa.

What's the difference between the Vinci and the Crane Programmers? Has the Vinci one been updated or tweaked, or are they the same thing with different names on them?

both tuners are fine products. they both work in much the same fashion. VHP is the exclusive testing entity for the tuner. and therefore has a great amount of experience and authority over which parameters are chosen. along with how much of a change can be made without causing any drivability problems associated with programs like LS1edit. crane cams and VHP have a long standing working relationship dating back well over 30 years. at this time, VHP is the only entity selling the f and y body tuner.

2 more days, I can't wait to be able to fine tune for nitrous.
BTW which program would you choose for dry nitrous?
Stock or Performance?
I immagine that performance would increase timing which is the opposite we want to do.
Would stock +more fuel, -timing be the way to go?

will this adjust for a 383 ls1 with only a .005 bore and 5.3 heads and a cam that i or no one else has a clue what size it is?(although without a doubt it was very aggresive with all this minus the 383 which just happened) straight pipes and intake. and 36lb injectors. (i think thats about it) would this not suit me, should i go with a tuning shop? texas speed, or some other place around dallas area? what would you guys do?

I would buy HP Tuner or something similar because 1) You need it with this setup and 2) you will be modding it in the future still. You are past the benefits of a hand held unit IMHO.

for my car on 200 wet i used the hiperf/stock cam with no ill effects. you shouldn't need to take out any timing at all. i don't. i even added +10% timing and heard no audible knock at the track. only thing to do is try things out and see what happens. i just went to the track sunday. did the same tests. stock and then hiperf/stock +10% timing. i gained nothing. talked with roger and he said go back to 0% timing and -5% fuel. next round i got my mph back and almost all the et. that's the beausty of it. can make changes with it at the track. weather conditions were different than the least time i was there when i gained the .2 and 1.4 mph. it wa raining that day. last sunday it was extremely hot. so, the removal of some fuel was needed to compensate for the hotter air.

the vinci handheld mentioned in this thread is practically useless when you have this much done to an engine? therefore i need to take it somewhere with like the laptop setup? does it take a specific laptop or can you just buy the software and install it on any newer laptop? i would like to be able to do that very much if that is possible. if not i would just probably take it to a shop in dallas and have them do it, someone with a chassis dyno.

HP Tuner can be installed on most laptops provided it has the memory and speed. Take a look at their website on the right (site sponsor now). Gives you pc requirements, has a helpful forum and gives you the basic walk thru.

i am a little concerned about what another user told me, if you make one mistake on your pcm you could lose a motor. i am afraid that, being very inexperienced in the field of car computers i will mess something up. if i got this hptuner programmer for my laptop i would need help i feel that my knowledge is extremely inadequate on this subject and would hate to lose all the money i have in this motor (obviously). if i bought this setup from hptuner i assume they would help? anyone who has had dealings with them know if they have good customer service? i would hate to jump into something and not be able to handle it. anyway thanks.
