You will not lose a motor unless you run it too lean. Mostly it will not start, idle or run right if the parameters get too out of whack. I felt the same way but if came down to just doing a little research, asking alot of questions here and giving it a try. It has actually been easier than I originally thought.

thanks guys that helps calm my nerves a bit. i am in no extreme hurry to have the car in its very peak, but i do need to get it running pretty close to this because it is going to come out of the shop on wednesday, and then on fri. i plan on leaving for fl. to get some break in miles on that new clutch and just put a few miles on that new engine. i dont want to just take off down to fl in a questionable ride as you can imagine. i do want to get this car in pretty good shape computer wise before i drive it around much. i was kind of leaning towards finding someone that could build a file (i guess thats what you do) to match my computer to what is in the engine internally then i could play with another file to constantly upgrade and make the car run better, but if i royally screwed something up i would always have a decent file to fall back on. so it really doesnt take all that long to figure the basics out? could i get it pretty close like the night i get it out of the shop, close enough to safely drive the car any distance or should i go get it tuned? or could i have someone build a file matching the internal engine and it be close enough for safe driving until i get it figured out. if so and you guys know someone that would do this, let me know my email is fozjared@yahoo.com or call me at 903-210-1290 thanks again.
its like drinking from a fire hydrant, all this info hits you at once, haha

That would be 500 rpm shorter than I want to shift.
I'm going to need my limiter set at 6800 too.

Some feedback on Tune install.
Easy to follow instructions, took a short time for VHP tuner to flash PCM.
Had to ditch the GMAF and went back to stock one.
Car stared fine, idled right away, exhaust note seemed more harmonious.
Took it for a drive to give PCM time to learn. Through town and traffic, then through a 50 mile highway ride at 80 mph on cruise control.
Car felt much better than before tune, firm and responsive shifts (still stock tranny till next week) W/TCI 3500.
A couple of WOT runs to 140 or so, acceleration was smooth and rapid, again exhaust note was less raspier.
I could feel there was a difference and one thing I noticed is at 80 mph, it was running 150 rpm less, which can mean that the car made the power to get to that speed a little sooner, by deduction, a power increase.
This was just with a:
stock cam performance tune
proper axle ratio,
tire height,
shift extention,
shift firmness.
I didn't mess around with other parameters, got to go to the track and do some N/A, and a couple of N20 runs, then we will see the improvements.
BTW before that I had a Diablo tune on.

I have to say that after a couple of days he power increase and smoothness of the tune I installed is much more noticeable.
I wish knew the parameters that are modified VS stock but all I have to say is that programmer rocks for a handheld and whoever programmed the tune knows his stuff for sure.
Can't wait till track day and some fuel/timing testing.

Looks like i will order one of these in Nov to go with my cam install.I have two questios, both would be after i dialed in my tune.
I am always running around in the low octane tables due to bad gas.I use booster at the track.I reset the PCM by pulling the fuses.I stay in the high table until that tank of gas with octane runs out.If i use this method at the track, what will happen to the tune when i pull/reinstall the fuses?
Also, can torque managment be shut off at WOT only?I would like to keep it for daily driving is possible.
Mahalo...

nothing will change with the tune by pulling the fuses. and even if it did, you could just reinstall it. torque management isn't turned off with the tuner. it's just the parameters and set far enough that it shouldn't ever come into play. also, torque management would only come into play at WOT. it's an abuse deterrent.

Does the Vinci allow you to do live data monitoring like the Predator. If it doesn't then what are the major differances between the two. I am not planning on ever doing a cam in my car so what would be the advantages getting the Vinci over the Predator.

Man, you've really got my attention. I am strongly considering this tuner, as soon as I can get some cash. Just a couple of questions...
Do you think that I will be able to tune to the cam in my sig when the time comes? It isn't a Vinci/Crane grind, but a custom Comp grind.
Also, I am going to be swapping out my 21 lb injectors for 24.7 lb injectors...I checked out the tutorial and it looks like I can adjust for that...how accurate will it be?
Lastly, when does the GP end?
Thanks for all of the info!
