MAF vs SD

MAF vs SD
I am brand new to the LS motor and the pcm wiring
I have a 2003 6l truck motor and 4l80E trans that is going into a 1948 chopped merc
I am intending to run a pair of 71mm turbos on it.
I have most of the parts to do so in hand including a wide band 02 and larger injectors etc etc
In reading many many posts here and on other forums I see reference to converting to Speed Density for better performance and to delete the MAF
Where I get lost is in the actual conversion requirements to do so ie MAP sensor and whatever else is to be installed to make the conversion work.
Is there a thread somewhere I missed to detail this or can someone please to detail the procedure for the necessary hardware, and to what PCM changes may be needed
thanks in advance for your help
Ken

To do normal sd you can basically just unhook the maf and use low octane tables.
However if you talking about 2 bar or 3 bar sd for boost you need a 2 bar or 3 bar map sensor and a custom operating system.

so where does the map sensor and intake air temp fit into this equation as they would definitely be needed for the twin turbos
no issue with the custom operating system - my friend with efi live can do that
we just need to know how and where to hook in the map and intake air temp sensor as in what pins etc

Unless you are building your own harness which is doubtful, any harness made for the engine/pcm combination will have provisions for those sensors. Some MAFs have the IAT sensors incorporated into them so you may need to break out 2 wires from the MAF connector for IAT.

ok so lets see I f I got this - the maf has the wiring for the intake air temp ? and I need to know which of those wires we are talking about for the maf - can someone tell me?
what pin number in my truck harness that I personally am modifying am I using for the map sensor - I have not ever read in any pinout where that is listed
thanks

If using a factory PCM you can use HP tuner to run SD to 2.5bars (+22psi). You don't need to do anything to the MAF wiring.
Here is the FAQ
