Given that a lot of the cheaper devices do not have the buffer capacity I'm now looking into adding USB-OTG support. I have been able to get the OBDLink Sx USB cable to work via a Micro Usb to USB A adapter in a serial terminal with Android 6.0 and up. It's going to take a few days to try and get my app working with the phones USB port but it's very doable and will open up a lot more possibilities for future development.
It can not change the serial number, The buffer in the device is too small, Ive tried every way possible even going as far as doing the serial number one digit at a time but by the time the address to load the serial at in the pcm is set the buffer is full.

Send me a PM if you'd like to try the app out. Currently this is only 100% working for the 99-02 512K pcm's and requires either an OBDLINK Mx/Lx or genuine Elm327. The BaFX will only change the Vin number and is NOT does NOT use a genuine Elm chip . On the 03-07 1mb pcm's this will only change the vin number.

With just a couple of minutes, a short piece of wire and the latest version of LS Droid..... Tuner locked PCM's are now a thing of the past (P01 Pcm's only)

OK, I realize what's happening in this thread is BIG. Even revolutionary. But would somebody put into layman's language what it means as far as tuning, accessing the PCM, etc., etc.

The immediate goals here are:
1) read the entire memory from your PCM and save it to a file
2) write the file to your PCM
In between those two things, you've got a file that you can modify with software like TunerPro or other tools. It'll take some additional work to create definitions so that those tools can really be used for tuning, but apparently there's a pretty complete definition already for a 2001 LS1 car (I forgot which), and that will give us a big head start in getting other cars supported.
The other thing I'm really looking forward to is reverse-engineering the code (not just the data) and then tweaking it to do cool stuff - different fueling strategies, 2-step rev limiters, rev-matched downshifts, valet mode, etc, etc. Subarus and Mitsubishi Evos have a bunch of cool stuff like that, and it's time the GM V8 universe got caught up.

Ideally.... the Pc version and the Android version will be able to use the EXACT SAME DEVICES. The Android version will not have the exact same capabilities and like wise the PC version will also not do all the same things the Android version does.They each have a time and place and since they will use the same devices there is ZERO draw back to this.
What makes it even better is these will both be 100% free ! ! ! ! ! !

HUSTON.....Your not gonna believe this but we're seeing what looks like an LS Pcm's .bin file.....
But it's only an Android phone with a cheap Bluetooth device....what......how......it can't be.......it's reading an LS Pcm's flash chip and saving the data as a .BIN file just like commercial tools.....that's......THAT'S IMPOSSIBLE ! ! !
