Default Dyno fail

Where to start, I had a tune dropped into my truck from a place that builds street rods, unbeknownst to me they put a tuner lock on my pcm. Well I kept having issues after I did a 6.0 conversion so I took it to a reputable shop with a dyno. Long story short they tried to get into the pcm and obviously couldn't because of lock, picked the thing back up and took it back to original tuners and they couldn't get in either, said that because FT tried to get in it locked the PCM down or fried it? Took another PCM from an 06 (mines an 03) and the new tuners couldn't get into it to reset the security/theft so we could use it on my truck. WTH I'm at a loss....

If your new tuner can't get past the tunerlock (which is easy) discard the PCM and buy another one, they are cheap and plentiful.
The 06 PCM works fine with a 03 truck, it just need to be flashed with a 03-05 operating system, I have converted many like that.
If they were unable to make it work for your truck, I suggest find a new tuner, a competent one can do this in 10 min, it takes longer to exchange the PCMs than flash them with a good running base tune.

We always try to use the correct service and hardware number pcm for that vehicle. We have had several swaps come in with 2006 drive trains and weird issues, soon as we put in the correct service number pcm all the weird issues went away. We had a 04 here with 06 pcm that wouldnt run correctly even with correct calibration, switched pcms and it worked perfect. We have interchanged 03-05 and had no issues but 06 has always had issues in our experience. We try to not to mix match pcms though if at all possible.

I didn't realize when I borrowed the other pcm that it was an 06. But still they should have been able to at least get into it. I've found an 04 out of a Suburban I'm gonna pick up tomorrow, fingers crossed, it apparently is unmolested and is coming out of a running wreck. Just these credits through HP are getting into my wallet.

I have used many 06-07 PCMs and only 2 did strange things with older OS still they worked acceptable, the rest worked great. My own swapped G-Body is running a 2005 3 Bar OS with a 2007 PCM.
They weren't able to even make it work, that has nothing to do with the year of the PCM.
However 03-05 TAC is incompatible with 06-07 OS

Thats the issue for us, we cant have cars doing strange things, its easier just to use the right service and hardware pcm. The ones with wrong pcm before we changed them all ran and drove, they just did odd things and or would act up going WOT. Some of them were drove alot before we fixed them so I think alot of times people might not be catching them acting wrong or notice it until they drive one that doesnt act up.
