I recently purchased a 98 a4 z28. The previous owner had swapped the gears (gu5) to 4.10s. My speedo is way off on the highway especially, and it also messed with my shift points so I've been told. I cant find a tuner near me, what is the best way to fix? I'd rather not get a full tuning suite, I'm not the best with computers. Is there away to fix this short of shelling out $400?

 

If you can do without driving the car for a few days you should be able to ship the ECU out to be programmed for the new gears.

 

It might help if you post where you're located, in case anybody is local to you. You might be able to find a used reset handheld tuner to do it.

 

I'm in the seacoast area of New Hampshire, but work takes me all over the eastern side of Massachusetts.

Not sure, but I dont think so. I know so far that it has been geared, has an slp lid, and has a cat back exhaust. Beyond that, I'm not sure yet. I am thinking of deleting egr and air, so that's something that you can correct too, right?
