OL to CL weirdness
Failed the MAF and setup OL
Tuned the VE tables to a reasonable point up thru ~10psi (street tuning)
Flipped the MAF back into play and left it in OL
Touched up the MAF freq table to a reasonable point
This is my first tune and when I hit 10psi and the AFR gauge was looking reasonable I was super stoked and couldn't wait to flip it into CL as I thought the tune might clean up a bit more but it got weird instead.
Put it back in CL took it out for a ride and when I hit boost it remains lean. This was not what was going on when I was in OL. Guessing I did something wrong, any tips on what to look for/change/??. I have enclosed my tune and log. You can see the condition occur in the first minute of the drive, you can also in the second minute if I roll into the boost soft it seems to be better but who was to roll in soft....
Any advice would be appreciated, feels like I missed a step or something real obvious.
I am new to this but have the basics, I don't notice any trims while in BE, didn't check PE.
I did however make a few PE changes, I established KPA enablement versus tps/rpm for PE/BE and rolled it in sooner. I also changed the enrichment ramp in to 2.5. Still a little slow but feels like the transition is faster. Wondering what the lag between the gauge and the graph is, I keep staring at the gauge and it seems like I'm lean forever but the graph tells me is a second or less.
I also noticed I'm going a rich after 170kpa, I pulled a little eq and I'll re-check. I know it's a hack but I'm learning so I'd like to see what happens as a result.
I've run a MAF with a turbo before...it is doable. But you can't run your calibration in circles with mixed fueling feedback.
While in PE/BE I see no fuel trim activity but my AFR is slow to transition when I get into boost and I get a lean spike for longer than I want.. While not in PE/BE I don't have a problem (relatively speaking!) as afr hangs right around 14.6.
I did not notice the lean spike during transition to BE/PE with my maf enabled and forced open loop or maybe I wasn't paying enough attention.I think what I'll do it step back to OL/failed maf touch up a few segments of the VE table then bring the maf in while in forced OL and see what that does and post the results.
With that said when I configure OL I setup the tune to force OL AND I use the scanner vehicle controls to disable CL, disable LTFT learn, and reset the LTFT. Pretty sure that is the correct way right?
I guess one more question, when I'm doing VE tuning in boost regions I keep PE/BE enabled right? Just set the BE/PE EQ where I want it and tune to VE?
