I'm trying to decide between switching to a Terminator X system or just getting a stock PCM tuned, for a daily driver turbo z28. Biggest drawback so far on the Terminator X system is having to also purchase a display.
So, The instrument cluster Tach, Temp and Fuel gauge run off this serial data. The Oil pressure gauge is "old style" and uses the one wire sender on the back of the engine. This remains the same with this data converter. The voltage gauge runs off the cluster power feed so it remains unaffected.
The speedo runs off a square wave frequency type signal that is on a dedicated wire from the original PCM. Depending on whether you have a manual or auto setup will determine how to get that signal back to the speedo. If you are running the trans thru a Holley Max for example, then that vss signal could be available on the holley data stream, and thus this module could be evolved to include speedo functionality as well.
would use all holley harness but it connects to this module it seems.
this seems to be my best option. My car is a lower mileage car so I hate to pull my factory cluster or disable it.
I can use the 3.5" screen that you get for adjustment or I can use my laptop for changes.
4l80 has a vss on it to get signal to stock ecm,I hope the x or x max does as well.
I also have to "pass" emissions , really just plug in and see no codes set.
probably still need to be able to piggyback?
