My initial tune had 29*. I have been messing with it at the track and bumped it to 31* and the car picked up 1.5 mph and .1 in the 1/4 mile.

As said there are "Many" factors that contribute to the amount of timing that is optimal to each specific combo, Not only engine specs, quality of gas, altitude, air ect...But agreed that to keep adding timing until you hear knock is the WRONG way to do it. People without Dynos can do it at the track. Like others said where they picked up MPH is one way, Do not go by E.T. I read where some people tell others with power adders such as Nitrous or forced induction to keep adding timing until they hear knock then back off. Well let me tell you, in a power adder configuration if you do that, it will probably be your last. I have even read where someone was telling nitrous users to use the hottest plug they could find but just to close the gap on the plug!! So just dont go by what everyone else is doing, go by what your combo likes....
