Default can tire pressure sensors be edited out w/ HP tuners on my C5?

I have 2 bad tire pressure sensors on my 98 C5. curious to know if I can edit that out w/ HP tuners or LS1 edit. Tired of looking at the message on the dash and I will be putting new wheels on the car very soon. it would be less of a hassle if i eliminated the sensors all together and didn't use them w/ my new wheels. Or is this a bad idea?

pull up the codes, goto the engine diagnostics table, dtc tab. Scroll to the code# and select #3, no error reported. Then select ses message off. That should take care of any fault messages.

No, Not with LS1 Edit (assume HPTuners is the same)
But you can with a Tech2 if it is 2001 or newer.
They are controlled by the BCM not the PCM.

it's a 1998. There has to be a way to do it. I'm sure there is many C5's out there w/ aftermarket wheels who didn't use the tire pressure sensors that have delt w/ this problem. anyone else have any Ideas?

The reason only '01 up BCMs can be changed is because the Z06 didn't use TPS, so they had to make it an option.
So you can go in with the TECH2 and turn on or off the TPS system.

I have never heard of a way to do it on earlier Vettes.
FWIW when I run my slicks and skinnies sometimes I can go several weeks without any notification.

Do a search over on corvetteforum. You can unplug the sender unit located above the drieverside rear wheel well. There is a sequence you follow so that you don't get any error codes.

Did you try using the sequence?

The problem with that approach is when you disconnect the battery, you have to do it over again. Brian is correct, the only way to do this is with a Tech2 because the TPS's operate with the BCM not the PCM. Interesting, when I run my DR's (they don't have sensors) I get the warning, but when I put the streets back on I don't have to retrain the BCM.

I haven't had the chance to do it. My buddy has HP tuners so i'll have to have him give it a try.

That is beacuse you put the sensors back in the same locations. It should only need to be retrained if the sensors are moved from left to right or front to back. Which should not be a problem on a vette because you can't rotate tires.
