surging after tune?
I just got my computer back from tsp tune wensday and hear is a list of mods:1998 Camaro Z28 A4
stock heads with 918 springs
231 237 598 595 TSP cam
tci 3500 stall
pacesetter headers
no cats
bullets
stock 3.23
lid
ls6 intake
z06 maf
!egr and AIR
ok now the problem first I had vats removed in tune well the car would not start because the security light was on so I tried a couple different things and it started a couple times and finaly I just wired a wire to the purple wire on the starter and turned the key to on and touched it to pos. and it starts just fine. well after doing this a couple times it starts fine now without wiring it to pos. just reg. starting now.
second problem trouble code for o2 no reading so I switched sides then the code switched sides so I replaced that one and no more codes.
third problem the car surges really bad it sometimes quits running. if I start out at high rpm and then ease it down it will idle smooth without surging but when I put it in gear back to same ole thing. TSP said adjust the idle screw untill this stops to let more air in but tried it and no luck there. the car seems fine at WOT but idleing is terrible. also the car seems very rich when idleing. I have a MAFT but it is not on the car I have never used it I traded a buddy a set of stock wheels for it. will this help me any to lean it a little would being rich cause this problem
show us some datalogs, if you have any.

1. Adjust the screw
2. Turn the key on but don't start it
3. unplug the Throttle Position sensor (it's on the TB, drivers side, bottom sensor)
4. Wait a few minutes.
5. Turn the key off
6. Hook the sensor back up
7. Start the car
It will idle poorly at first. It needs to relear the idle.
You need the idle speed up around 900 for starters.
Did you drill out the TB hole? That made a HUGE difference for the surging.
Get use to the bad exhaust smell, nature of the beast. You have 10 degrees of POSITIVE valve overlap, great for performance, but bad for street cars.
If you have a big cam in an auto car, mail order tunes are NOT the way to go, IMHO...

I agree . you shouldnt of wasted your $$$$$$ next time get it tuned on a dyno w/ wide band.
the car seemed to get better as the day went on now it will run fine at idle for awhile then out of the blue start surging again although it did it less and less as the day went on.
So now I figure out I have another problem everytime it shifts from 2nd to 3rd gear it hits the rev limiter first then shifts. but the times seem pretty good here are some of them:
1.644
4.873
7.555
91.08
1.644
4.868
7.545
91.27
1.651
4.881
7.561
91.09
on this next one I stiffened up the front shocks from 1 to 7
1.637
4.851
7.516
91.87
the car shifted just before the finish line from 2 to 3 and hit rev limiter everytime.
I will try to get it logged for the idle prob.
