Question Optimum A/F
I have seen a lot of dyno charts over the years. I have seen N/A "dyno tuned" cars that are running in the ranges of 14.1 - 12.1. I would just like to see what everyone thinks the best A/F is for a N/A car. I have always thought right at 13.1 is where you should be, but I guess that's not the case.

For naturally aspirated engines, generally mid-to-upper 12's around peak torque, and upper 12's through low 13's for peak horsepower.

depends on the car, but for LS1s a general midpoint would be 13.0

Yep. 12.6 at peak TQ till 13.0 at peak power. But its not the be all and end all. Its an optimal balance of spark and AFR across the RPM band that will give best results.

I hold 12.6 from 4000-4800 and roll off to 13.0 by 5600 and sit there till she cant take it anymore.

I swear my engine will need a rebuild soon with all the Dyno runs and track days it's had.

I wonder why I have seen so many "tuned" cars running high 13's low 14's then?

if you look at the PE table none of the values correlates to any real afr. its easier for the tuner to adjust for one afr as opposed to multiple afrs

I'd be more interested in hearing from people who have
actually gone and methodically found their peak-HP,
peak-TQ AFR.
