Car wont start after flash????
Well as it says the car wont start after I flashed the vcm. When I was done flashing the vcm the fuel pump did not prime all I heard was a click or a clunk sound from the rear. Now when I try to start it it does prime but just for a second. How long should the pump prime for? Also tried to rewrite with other programs and even tried to rewrite the entire vcm and dtill no luck. What could be the problem.

Yes I have tried to write it again a number of times and the only reason that I tried to write the entire vcm is b/c Chris at HP Tuners Support said to.
The Security light comes on when the key is turned and then goes off. Thanks for the ?'s keep them coming

try disabling your VATS ... or do a vats resynch maybe? (It's in the manual... i'm on a unsecured wireless network at the mall now so can't really look things up)

vats relink is for cars like the vette that use a serial data for pats, the 98 f-cars are a simple 5 volt 50hz square wave from the BCM to a pin on the PCM
Where did you get the file from? if it was not read from your pcm, and the os is different, you can fry a 98 pcm very easily by writing a file that the checksum does not match.

The stock file was read from my car and all other files were based off of that file Chris at Hp Tuners soes not think the vcm is fried b/c I can still scan it and comunicate with it. I am going to try to check the fuel press. and ??????

Did it happen after a file that you read, or after one you flashed from the bin repository? Did you happen to check for codes before you reflashed it after it did not start? if you saw a P605 your pcm is dead, it will still read and write, supply spark but will not supply fuel to the injectors, so my next troubleshooting step would be to put a volt meter on the injectors when cranking.

This is a longshot, but pull a plug and see what it looks like. I put a Holley mpfi system on a 52 chevy pickup with a 400 sb, and for some reason, when I downloaded a minor tuning adjustment, it flooded all 8 cylinders and fouled the crap out of the spark plugs. The adjust that I made wasn't nearly enough to do that damage, the PCM just took a bad write. (I'm hoping just because of a bad groundstrap that we later fixed.).

The injectors show that they are pulsing on the scanner, but how do you check them with a volt meter I am willing to try it. I checked for codes but not after the first time I flashed it and when I did I did not see any codes. I will pull the plugs today and let you know.

Pulled a plug and it looked great like it was brand new. Now if the injectors were firing while cranking but the car wont fire wouldnt the plug be a little wet looking? The one I pulled showed no signs of fuel on it (i dont think that is a good thing).
So as Slow suggested I will try to check the injectors with a volt meter. How?

Update... checked the injectors and they are working fine so I decided to check the fuel pres. and found only 4 psi at the rail. I am assuming that the pump is bad or could something else cause the pres. to be that low.
