can't rid the ping
I have tried everything. AMW catch can, seafoam, new fuel filter, cleaning maf, new spark plugs, lucas upper lub, fuel injector cleaner and even a 160 thermostat, which I'm not using now but will put it back in soon for summer. I even had the car on a dyno a yr ago for 1hr and my factory tune is fine. 14.7 a/f at part throttle and 11.5-12 a/f at wot and made good power. Only had 17 degrees of timing though. This was 100% stock. Only thing I haven't tried yet is some NGK TR6 plugs.

might have a knock sensor going bad? or your MAFT could be scrweing you up. its prob learned knock by now and could be compensating enough to say its rich enough but isnt. i would try to put the stock tune back in the car and take the MAFT off and see how that does.

I'll have to get some 100 octane fuel and see if the kr goes away. If it doesn't then the knock sensors are bad. Problem is getting GM to do anything without a code.

I hear audible pinging with kr. Most of it is at part throttle but if I put my lid or fipk on then that makes my long trims positive so I have to tune my maft 10% rich base then that gets the lt's to - and 0 at wot. However I sometims will ping past 4k rpm. Also if I shift fast at any rpm I get loud pinging upshifting once I get back on the throttle. The weird thing is the first 5k miles on the car, now 38k I had no pinging and kr. Even with a lid and + lt's in 90 degree summer heat I had 0 pinging. I have read than in order is get the pistonsb really clean you have to spray is down the plug holes. I might try some tr6 plugs while I;m at it.

All because of a cat eh?
Hmm.. I have pinging/rattling when the cars warms up. Around 1600-1900 RPMs if I press the gas in past halfway
I've done all the stuff you have.. plugs, fuel filter, air filter, oil change/filter, coolant flush, top end cleaner.. No dice
Im about to replace my shorties and stock y/cats with some LTs.. I really need to find a tuner though.
