Car still surges...
Has anyone with H/C have a car that doesn't surge. I've done lots of tuning, and my A/F is dead on (with Wide Band) at idle, part throttle and WOT. It surges when coming to a stop/backing up. I set my idle to in gear to 800 rpms, 900 rpms with AC, and in park 650 rpms, 750 rpms with AC. I had to do that because it would pop the rearend everytime I put the car in gear. I've also done the idle relearn and a lot of other things that I can't remember and it still surges. I was wondering if anyone could share some tips on what they did/do to get rid of the surging.

Well when we installed the H/C we open up the set screw in the TB to help it run, well after we got it to idle I closed it back. The car is now throwing a code for the TB sensor(low voltage) I swapped sensors, did idle relearn and its still throwing the code. The code is probably from me closing the set screw to far so I'll have to fix that. Then I'll try this other info. You have a bigger cam than I do, does your car still surge or have other issues? I got to admit with the way my car acts, it sounds like it has a vaccum leak but everyone tells me it doesn't.

you might have set the screw too far, you want it in the .57-.67 line. check out my thread on idle tuning and if tuning is the issue this will fix it. my car did it and now i get slight surge, but it really isnt bad, im trying to smooth out the rpms as much as possible from all transitions that take place. idle tuning 101 is the name i think. read through and see if this could be something you havent done yet.. if you have hp tuners shoot me an email and ill send you the config to use. budchevy358@yahoo.com

I modified PO121 to this....
PO121 Parameters
Max MAP 55
Min MAP 65
...and my car still surges. Anybody know of anything else to work on to get rid of the surging?

I'll look at both posts and compare them to what I've got. The problem I have is that HPtuners and LS1edit at not the same when it comes to tuning, when you talk about this table and that table in HPT, edit will have the same info but it laid out different so I'll have to look and make sure I'm fooling with the right parameters. I'm no guru, I'm learning as I go...to tell you the truth my buddy (LT99LS1) does the majority of the tuning and I help as much as I can. I know we've done VE tuning, pulled some timing at idle, set idle RPMs in park and in gear, tuned for A/F from idle-WOT, drilled the TB to 3/16", turned the set screw, and a few other things that I can't think of right now. I wonder if it just a vaccum leak....I dunno but I'm starting to run out of things to try. I will check things out and get back to you guys thanks for the help!

The set screw was returned back to .4 and the TB was drilled one size larger to 3/16", but I had to do that to get it to idle period. The other things were tried first before the tb or the set screw were messed with. I think that I'm getting unmetered air from somewhere. What's an easy way of checking for that?
