LS1 Edit questions
I'm currently in the market to purchase a ScanMaster, AutoTap, or LS1 Edit. My car is mainly stock, and probably won't ever do more than heads/cam and NOS. I've seen AutoTap and really like it. I've looked at LS1 Edit, but think its probably over my head and isn't necessary for my application. Anyone want to agree/disagree? Its my understanding, that LS1 Edit will allow you to monitor as much(or more) info as ATAP, but also allow you to modify the PCM also, right? A few finnal questions, approx. how much with it cost, and any clue when it will be available? Hopefully that made sense, I just want ot know if its overkill for me. Thanks!

Re: LS1 Edit questions
LS1_Edit will NOT have a scan tool or datalogger. It is an editor ONLY. You will need something like AutoTap, Ease Diagnostics, CarCode, or (hopefully in the spring) TTS Datamaster for OBDII. I love Datamaster for my OBDI car (well, when I'm not running an OBDII PCM in it, long story), and they are developing a version for LS1's and OBDII LT1's.
If you do heads/cam, you will benefit from reprogramming, no doubt about it. I've got just a B1 and Grots w/ ORY, and can tell that I really need a program. Hunting for idle when cold, stock rev limiter, and soon I'll be putting in the 12-bolt with 4.10 gears...

Re: LS1 Edit questions
Thanks Andrew. I believe that indeed that Edit is too much for me. ATAP and a MAFT will get me by I believe, maybe a little custom tuning as well. Thanks all.

On this subject, is the shop version fully released yet? Also, does anyone have a direct number to carputing? I tryed emailing them and didn't get a response. You can email me the number at 1fast93z@mindspring.com

Re: LS1 Edit questions
The shop version is not released yet. Status as of yesterday is that they are still in the process of completing documentation, with a goal of December 1st for completion of docs. So it sounded to me like the release date for the shop version will be very, very soon.
No good ETA on the single user version, though. And no good ETA on the '98 version (which I need) either.
As for contact, they haven't published their phone number (AFAIK). You might just try emailing again, I sometimes don't get responses from them either.
