Default my LS1 edit saga ends... 60 minutes to read pcm

my car is just retarded... as some of you know, i went out and on the first time reading my HPP3 settings on edit it took 65 mins.. ok so i closed out all my programs on the puter except for edit.. tried a second time reading after i took out the HPP3 settings.. still 60 mins..

but no errors.. i think the USB adapter i have has something causing it to be slow..

so since i saw no errors i went ahead and programed... muahahaa 3-4-5 minutes tops!!!!!!!

i just dont get it.. i have the norm programing time, but 4 times the reading time.. anyway i dont need to read it anymore so im good to go..

oh btw way, dont freak out if your battery dies while reading the pcm.. it cant hurt anything.. just unhook batery and re connect it back in 2-3 mins and all is well.... shew(talk about a freak fit)

oh and the car runs so much better around town with the idle raised 100rpm

You are using a USB to Serial adapter?

I timed an upload/download yesterday after the discussion - on a PIII-450 running Windows ME a download (2000 z28) took 14 min 28 seconds, an upload took 1 min 42 seconds.

If the hpp3 and laptop both take around 60 minutes to write the data, then its obviously your cars pcm or something in the cars diagnostic port, not the laptop or hpp3.

The HPP3's are TERRIBLY slow. My friend's '98 TA took 30 minutes to program with an HPP (at least, it was a long time, because both of us forgot about the car in the time it was programming ). Anyhow, his LS1_Edit stuff was EXACTLY like my car - 15 minutes to read, 2 minutes to write.

Do NOT assume that HPP times equal LS1Edit times! They are completely different systems and use different methodologies for doing 'what they need to do'. Let's end that theory right now!

I also believe it's in the USB to RS232 converter that's being used. I have never used LS1_Edit with one, but I used a Belkin F5U103 with LT1_Edit, and it worked fine under Win98 and Win2000.

Ummmm....Dont let your battery go dead while programming. I just got mine back from repairs because of this. 125.00 mistake. The ls1 Edit does have a reconnect feature but it doesnt always work.

oh i didnt go dead while prgramming, just reading thank gawd!!

but it must be the USB adapter.. its the only thing i can figure out... but as long as it only takes 5 mins max to write its fine to me

atleast i dont need to wait 30-45 mins for the HPP3 to program the car anymore
