Default Converters having trouble locking up w Custom Tuning, help please!

Heres the deal:

I got a local guy tuning my car (Eclipse Engineering for those that want to know the name) Right now when I have the Stock PCM in the car, the car will lock up most of the time. Sometimes it wont lock up.

This gentleman flashed his Custom Program in my car and everything ran great except for one problem. The converter would not lock up. It would lock up at first but after 4-5 minutes of driving it would stay unlocked. its weird because it seems like the converter does the excact same thing with the STOCK pcm in, so why should i be purchasing his custom tuning??

I asked him if he had turned off the PO300 Random Misfire code and he said that he did. He thinks that setting off this code has nothing to do with converter lock up/non lock up issues.

im really frustrated with this. Its too the point where im thinking of just turning the car back to stock again.

thanks
jack

Do some reading in here. There is an answer. It's something we all figured out after comparing notes. You need Steve from Eclipse Engineering to mess with another misfire index... Perhaps someone can link us.

I had my pcm redone by www.bvperformance and my 'verter locks up for the first time in two years.

Pro Stock,
I think Patrick G mentioned something like this to me, but i couldn't find the post. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Sad]" src="gr_sad.gif" />
Patrick, can u explain it to me again? sorry. I think you are right PSJ, in that it does have something to do with the Misifre, not exactly the PO300 but another aspect of the Misfire Index in the computer.

thanks, and TTT

I drove the car 60 miles tonite.

Always locked up above 40-45mph...

I am very happy.

Perhaps try www.bvperformance the guy who tuned my car.

He needs to disable misfire detection and not just the code. I believe you want to set the misfire temp table to begin at 140 degrees and end at 139 degrees.

Get LS1 Edit. You won't regret it. It helped me learn more about my engine.

I had these changes done by Speartech based on a previous post by pontiaddict a couple of weeks ago and it worked like a charm. I do know a few people that were able to do this in LS1 Edit as well and it works everytime.

SSBOY, You going to the North/South Shootout in Bakersfield this weekend? If so I'll see you there, I think our cars would make a good close match up.

You're just making the wrong decisions. You should have dropped the car off at MMS for a day or two and had them go through everything, or bought LS1 edit. Either one would allow you to fix your problems!

I am glad my research is paying off for you guys! I found the Misfire to TCC lockup correlation last year. I tried getting the info out earlier... If you are having TCC lockup problems after heads/cam or even just a new converter, if you disable misfire detection your problem will be solved.
