AutoTap Remedy
<strong>good to see you figure out the problem. i have only installed it and not tried on the car yet. i think it said i needed a password and registration though? <shrug>
soon enough ill be able to test it <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" /> </strong></font><hr /></blockquote><font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Let me try to clear up this issue for you. V2 software will work with V1 hardware without the need of a registration key. And, V2 reads both generic and enhanced parameters regardless of hardware version.
Actually, when the software starts up, it checks to see what type of hardware it is connected to, V1 or V2. If it's V1, it bypasses the registration process. That said, we've had a couple of reports like yours where V1 hardware users are getting prompted for a registration code. YOU DON'T NEED ONE. Make sure that your startup process is
1. Key On,
2. Connect the cable to the vehicle,
3. Start the software
Another helpful hint that will make the startup process quicker is to save a config file before you close the software the first time. When you connect to the same vehicle the next time, the software loads the last config file which contains all of the eligible parameters for that car.
Lastly, the hardware upgrade is optional. The new software works with the V1 hardware. You will need to upgrade your hardware, however, if you want to use EFILive V5 Pro or AutoTap for Palm.
Hope this helps. It's right for the horse's mouth!
With the AutoTap V2 install, we built in a mini “demo” database that had just a handful of parameters. This database is part of the default config and default log file included with the software. It appears that this database was corrupt. The impact of this is widespread. It causes each of the following behavior:
Bad data in your own log file playbacks and exports
Trouble saving your own config (which was built on top of our default config)
Overflow error when playing back a log file, since it was attempting to playback into the corrupted default config.
Windows 95, 98 and ME users follow these steps
1. Close AutoTap software
2. Use Windows Explorer to locate your AutoTap V2 program directory (Default is C:\Program Files\AutoTap Diagnostic Scantool)
3. Delete the following files
AutoTapV2.ATD AutoTap Definition File (only exists if you’ve already connected to a vehicle)
Default.ATC AutoTap Config File
Default.ATL AutoTap Log File
(Note that depending on how you have configured your Windows Explorer, these files might appear differently, be careful you don’t delete the Application file.)
4. Restart AutoTap software. After your first connection to a vehicle, save the config file. AutoTap always loads the last-used config file
Windows XP and 2000 users follow these steps
1. Close AutoTap software
2. Use Windows Explorer to locate your AutoTap V2 program directory (Default is C:\Program Files\AutoTap Diagnostic Scantool)
3. Download the files Default.ATC and Default.ATL
from http://www.autotap.com/WindowsV2Remedy.html
4. Restart AutoTap software. After your first connection to a vehicle, save the config file. AutoTap always loads the last-used config file
Note- if when you restart the AutoTap software, the Windows Installer comes up, it means that the new default files were not successfully copied into the AutoTap Diagnostic Scantool directory, retry the steps above.

It would be neat if my engine could do 2,000 plus degrees while the engine water temp was ver 4,000 degrees while RPMs was 3, but highly doubt I could ever achieve that <img border="0" title="" alt="[Razz]" src="gr_tounge.gif" />
Very next PCM cycle timing is now -64 but engine load is over 1000 !

The Best V8 Stories One Small Block at Time
The fix now per A-tap site for all windows versions is delete the files ( you can actually just overwrite the bad ones, same thing) and download the 2 files from the a-tap site. If you have connected to a car, then you need to delete 1 more file.
ITT
That said, I have made the old version (1.11) available for those of you that may have deleted it <img border="0" title="" alt="[Mad]" src="gr_images/icons/mad.gif" /> when you installed V2. Hopefully it won't be necessary, but it is available if you need it. You can only get to it by going to this web address: http://www.autotap.com/files/download/v1.11/setup.exe. It will also be available on our ftp site - ftp.autotap.com.
Thanks for sticking with us. Have a great weekend.
