Putting together an LS1 edit FAQ - need input on topics ->
I have begun to assemble a LS1 Edit faq - if anyone has questions/topics they think should be included please post them here!

#1 TM: What is the proper way to control, 'kill', TM. <img border="0" alt="[guns]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_guns.gif" />
It is in more than one location, with many tenacles to it. Torque Reduction & Abuse Mode in the Trans section. Spark Retard Limit, Torque Reduction, Abuse Mode Test, Torque Management, in the Engine Ignition section. It's like baking a frinkin cake <img border="0" title="" alt="[Confused]" src="images/icons/confused.gif" /> you need a pinch of this & a pinch of that, <img border="0" alt="[guns]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_guns.gif" /> , to make it go away <img border="0" alt="[fight]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_punch.gif" /> . I still have'nt killed it.... Also a short, & to the point statement, on all the different items that you can change, & why you should/shouldn't do it <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" /> I would call this FAQ LS1Edit for dummies <img border="0" title="" alt="[Embarrassed]" src="gr_emb.gif" /> as for myself, I still feel like a dummy, after 2 months of trying to find that "Magic" 'tune', I've been chasing. <img border="0" alt="[Fluffy]" title="" src="graemlins/fluffy.gif" />
Chris, thanks for all that you are doing for us <img border="0" alt="[cheers]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_cheers.gif" />

WTF is "Abuse Mode"? .Is it like "Rental Car Mode"? <img border="0" alt="[Burnout]" title="" src="graemlins/burnout.gif" /> <img border="0" alt="[Burnout]" title="" src="graemlins/burnout.gif" />
Okay, still waiting on more FAQ topics, but I have a preliminary site up
http://ls1edit.slowcar.net
Some of the links work - My files database is still there, the tuning guide is up (I just finished it - a walkthrough the tuning process), and I have a few links. the Glossary and FAQ are still in the process of being developed.
Let me know what you think so far (esp. about the tuning guide) and any suggestions, etc. you have.

Excellent site. I'll have an edit file for you (eventually <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" /> ) for my car tuned for the tnt kit, since I didn't see one there.

Great job!!!! I know LT1 Edit like the back of my hand but am wanting to get LS1Edit for my vette. Your site is gonna make me buy it!!
A few more.
Under Transmission Calibration -A4 Shift Speed - What is the correct way to set your shift points?
Under Transmission Calibration - A4 Shift Firmness in the Abuse Mode section - What do you set these parameters to in order to reduce the affects of the underlying Torque reduction table?

1./A more define answer of how to workout volumetric efficiency.
As this way you can tune you car in speed density mode and remove the MAF, we have a few car setup this way, and are pulling good torque figures.
If there is enough people interested we should be able to workout what the number means in a more simpfied method, what does what.
2./ Have some examples of Power enrichment table in RPM on various cars.

Thanks for all the topics so far, I am working on putting them together.
For the LS1 Edit glossary, if someone wanted to go through each section and just type an outline with
Section
Table 1
Table 2
etc. so i could fill in the information of each section that would be *very* helpfull <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

I understood that it was very difficult to delete all the MAF related information in the pcm? Are you actually able to do this with ls1 edit?
As for tuning VE that will take awhile to get all together, but just to give you some ideas
http://www.slowcar.net/shared/ve.xls
that is a spreadsheet (not really a public distribution model - that's just a sheet I whipped up for personal tuning) I was using to help tune a friends 93 z28 (speed density, chip based) - I basically made a pivot table that mimiced the stock VE table in scaling, but populated it with average LTFT correction factors - I then copied in the stock ve table and applied each of these correction factors to the corresponding cell. This lets you get a VE that corresponds perfectly with your O2 feedback - but it takes quite a few iterations, and you still need to use common sense
I also have another one which I can't find at the moment that calculates the VE based on MAF, RPM, MAP, etc. values - it uses the formula outlined in my LT1 Edit glossary
this one
</font><blockquote><font size="1" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">code:</font><hr /><pre style="font-size:x-small; font-family: monospace;">VE = Actual airflow(MAF)
-------------------------------
(RPM/120 * Air Density * 5.733)
Air density can be determined using:
(MAP – Vapor pressure(H2O))
---------------------------
0.287 * IAT(in Kelvin)</pre><hr /></blockquote><font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">So you can log your car with the MAF still in place, use it to tweak the VE tables, then remove it and revert to VE mode with a table that should be relatively accurate.
Note that this isn't the classical definition of VE - this on is referenced vs. manifold pressure instead of atmospheric. This is what GM uses though (and why in your VE tables they don't peak at your peak torque (at least I think they don't in the ls1, they do in the lt1)).
But the VE tables do nothing if you are reading off the MAF - but since you are ditching it it sounds like you have that covered.

What do you need for the glossary? I can probably help with that. I work night shift, and on my nights off there isn't much to do <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" /> .

Also, an explanation on setting the pivot table up. I tried going by your outline in a previous post, but got to make the table and didn't know which box to drag the data groups to.
in general go over the system requirements in laymens terms, for instance i jus bought a brand new laptop, with no serial port <img border="0" title="" alt="[Mad]" src="gr_images/icons/mad.gif" /> didnt know i needed a serial port and they are no longer available on most all laptops.
then maybe gather some info on the best usb to serial adaptors for the job, the belkin one i currently have is only good enough to run a-tap, it wont run edit.
i probably overlooked something of the sort on the carputing page, but had i seen it would have relieved some huge headaches of mine, now i have to find a good cable adaptor in 15 days or return the whole laptop.

basically an outline like that without table descriptions - e.g.
Main Display
...Notepad
...Funtion enable
[...]
Engine
...Test Parameter Tab
[...]
so I can just go through and fill in descriptions for each table.
Thanks for the suggestions and keep them coming!
