Does being RICH cause a cloud of smoke when the pedal is hammered
I thought my cloud of smoke was white, but today I saw it a few times when I went WOT and it actually looks dark in color. I also get a build-up of pure black soot above each tailpipe on my bumper every 4-5 days. I have to clean it of with Goo-Off or alcohol.
So do you think I'm too rich?
Car runs perfect otherwise.

seafoam???? Tell me about it. Can I pick it upand just do it myself?
Is it a cleaner. Because this cloud of smoke only appears at the second I go WOT for maube 1 full secong, than from there on out if I stay on the gas everything is clear. If I go WOT a couple minutes later, same thing happens.

its a liquid. you pour a third of it in your oil fill on the valve cover, 1/3 in the pcv on the driver head and the rest in the fuel tank. its supposed to clean out all the carbon and stuff out the motor and fuel lines. i got mine at napa.

Also, when I look at my TB there is a light film of oil (I guess it oil) on the bottom half of the TB plate. If I wipe it with my finger it comes right off, its kind of wet, but it doesn't run down.
What doesw this mean?
I have the valley cover and catch can too.

its on the back of the valve cover. its a black rount thing that goes into the rubber grommet on the valve cover. If it is dirty, then your going to be smoking alot, but that just means that its cleaning. You will also need to do an oil change.

How long do I drive around? Or do I just idle? Should I go WOT or just drive casual?
Should I do the oil change immediately after driving it around?
Also, is there a problem that needs fixing if the oil is on by TB plate?
Sorry, alot of questions

it has nothing to do with the TB. it will smoke if the internals on the motor are dirty. the oil could be from a k&n filter if your running one. from what ive read, its common to have oil in the intake manifold, but if you have the ls6 pcv system and a catch can, then it shouldnt be doing that. the oil change doesnt have to be the minute your done driving, but within that week i would suggest. just drive it for about 20 minutes to let it run through the system. I think the can tells you how long to also.

Your engine needs a rich mixture relative to the 14.7:1 it runs at in closed loop to make power at WOT. Rich mixtures will appear as darker exhaust. Only a wide band A/F sensor will tell you if it is TOO rich. What you are seeing is the extra enrichment the PCM is commanding when it enters PE mode. Quite normal.
Seafoam is just a product people use to clean carbon build up out of the combustion chamber.

Stock tune commands excessive power enrichment.
Cat overtemp protection is even worse. This is all
even without any compounding mixture errors in
play.
The oil on the TB says PCV system, blowby and
oil uptake. Probably want to look into a catch can
scheme of some sort. Otherwise you'll be a regular
SeaFoam junkie.

Where would oil come from in front of the TB plate anyway?

PCV uptake air line is the left-hand port in the TB.
Idle air is the one more to the center.
The way I see it, at WOT you have near zero
pressure drop across the TB itself, some drop
across the intake tract (filter, lid, MAF) so both
uptake and extract lines of the PCV are under
light suction. Pressurizing the crankcase is any
blowby. So the oil fog whipped up in the rocker
valleys wants to blow on up both hoses, the
uptake one is totally unrestricted however and
probably not catch-canned?
I think someone needs to make an LS1 catch-
can that's small, two chambers (one per hose)
and a nice tuck-up (like bent lines to fit the stock
house routing with little cutting and no extending).
Preferably in black.

ninobrn99,
All I can say is holy ****
Put the stuff in and went for a 30 minute drive. The engine actually seemed to run a bit better at idle.
Towards the end of the drive I decided to mash the pedal to the floor at 45-50mph and the only smoke I got was from the tires roasting
I don't get hardly any smoke now when I hit it. Could that stuff be that friggin good?
I must have had a shitload of carbon somewhere, eh?
