I've seen this question asked multiple times on multiple forums, but still haven't seen an answer:
The standalone logging feature in the MPVI Pro is not supported by the current software (V2.1). Per the announcement page, "Data logging (MPVI Pro only - future software release)".
When will it be supported?

it will be supported after myself and a handful of beta testers do some bug testing....it shouldnt take us long....
but we need to test it first to make sure its going to work on all the vehicles...and work flawlessly...
so that will come quickly and will be a software download from the HPT site

Not sure how we over promised?
We are doing our best to meet our projected date. We were delayed from our expected date by a few days, that's all.
Our announcement said this:
Availability
We are now taking pre-orders for new purchases and upgrades to Gen IV V8 (LS2/LS7) support only. We expect first shipment to be 15th Feb, 2006.

I hate when companies over promise and under deliver. I should have just ordered it with the freakin serial cable. DAMN!

Is Superchips building them in Sanford, FL or are you using a CM? I ask only because Craig walked me through their assembly areas a couple of months ago and they definitely have an efficient process for building and shipping their tuners. With the HP/Superchips relationship it would seem logical for them to be doing the builds.

Wow lots of stuff to read.. Read most of it and maybe i missed this but I have a few questions..
What happens if you lock 4 vins and then you want to sell it. That would take away a big value from the system if you ever needed to sell it. Would there be some type of system to send it back in and unlock them like the predator and others have?
Also The pricing for the upgrade from std. serial cables to new usb as of now is $199. Is this introductory or will it be here to stay? I just want to know if I need to do it now or if I can safley wait to see what this new feature will be. I hate to wait aroung it it go up or something though.
I see good things and bad things about the new credit system but I wont get into those. This thread has enough lol.. I do appreciate the service I got from keith the other day. Thanks again.

No need to send anything back... it's all based on credits, so you can license however you want. If you want to have 20 vin locked cars on the car, you just buy enough credits for 20 vin locks. Or you can buy open licenses (year/model) like is available now. (I think you're thinking about it like carputing did... HPT is not doing it like that... the 4 vin licenses is just an example of what you can do with the 8 initial credits, you can apply as many licenses of whatever type as you want, you have full control)
All this is doing is giving the community more options on how to license vehicles. Now w/the same cable we can do vin locked (for those that don't plan on tuning any other cars like theirs) or you can get a year/model license like you can get right now. Then if down the road, you've tuned 3 2000 F-Body's VIN locked, and decide to tune another, you get a discount for switching to the year/model method (it's in their FAQs)

So what are the extra inputs and outputs used for? Black box data logging is what? Can I log my runs with the standard package to check actual shift points, a/f and such? Sorry for all of the questions but it seems the website only talks about the pro package and it's capabilities.

You can scan with both. You can edit with both. You dont need a laptop to scan with the pro but you'll need a laptop to flash with both. Inputs can be used for things like wideband o2 sensors, fuel pressure sensors, pretty much anything with a 0-5v analog output you can log strait into the scanner. Outputs can be used for many different types of triggers basically.
