Ok i tuned the truck with just the base program that the tuner puts in from the get go. I can tell a pretty good jump in power. I didnt reset of upgrade any of the diablo base settings. You have to run at least 91 with this tuner. There is no economy settings. you can upgrade your tuner through a program off your pc. You call diablo and they will build you a custom program. I dont feel the t.m like i did before. you can also see what your engine is doing.. it gives you read out on everything. { spark curve, timing, o2's , MAF readings, and etc... the base program is set to be dummy proof. it will only let you set the truck to 125 and 6000rpms. if you have electric fans then you have them set at a degree setting of your choice. this things works for any 99 and up gm product with a v8. So, no more " I need one for a 99 or 2001 model" . Like I said we should have it on a dynojet tomorrow. but with the base program I could tell quite a difference. I do like that this programmer is totally upgradeable. I should have a program in next month to change the air fuel mixture and timing even more than the current 5 degrees and the speedo up to 140. it lets you calibrate for gear changes and so on. you can { it sems} control you line pressure on the tranny. I love this thing. Dyno should tell the story

Sorry, You can use it on one truck or car at a time. you can use it on any 99 and up gm car or truck with a v8. So if I want to sell it , and i have a 2k truck, my buddy can buy it and use it on his 2002 vette if he wanted.
RED2K.....The programmer is MARRIED TO THE FIRST VEHICLE you load it into. You CANNOT re-load your stock program and then install the PREDATOR program in another car. I have been testing this product for months and it's only good on ONE car. Sorry!!!

Yes you are right. I found out the first batches you will have to send in and get flashed if you want to use them on another ride. They are making them soon to where you can back the vin out and use it on another like the hypertech. What downloads has you already got for it. We are waiting for ours. We just got our first batch of programmers.

Well that's just a waste of a programmer. Not worth the money. $425 + $150 for each custom tune, then if something happens to the vehicle, ie. wreck, theft, sold, then you're out of the money you invested in the Diablo. Whereas b/c the HPP3 can be reused, you can sell it if you need the money at any time.
Just did a full dyno beta test last night with the Diablo Sport Predator. Initially their preset performance tune gained a best of 2 RWHP. In the end we set the A/F all the way to 5% lean and left the timing in the same position as the performance tune (which may have been the same as stock since we forgot to check). This netted us a total of 7 RWHP and 8 RWTQ. I also compensated for my 3.73's, disabled the CAGS light (already had the !CAGS installed but this disabled the periodic light too), and permanently disabled the SES set by the O/R Y. I can change the fan settings, use it as a diagnostic tool, and restore factory settings at any time. All this and I don't need to buy a laptop or a cable. My A/F is sitting right at 13.0:1 through most of the power band and just under that at about 4800-RL. It is fully net upgradeable and is easy to understand and navigate. Honestly, I don't see a downside to this thing. The only dyno test I've ever seen on the HPP3 showed -2 RWHP/-3 RWTQ averaged over 3 runs. It's essentially a very expensive speedo calibration tool IMO. It doesn't even compare to the Predator.
LS1Edit is a great tool but you need a laptop and there are tons of configurable parameters. It's an impressive tool for the avid tuner, maybe even essential. But I think most of the LS1 garage mechanics (like me) will never use the additional functionality of it. And the Predator can catch up in the future anyway since it can be upgraded. It will probably never get to the same level but I don't think it ever needs to.
I've pretty much worked out a dyno tune package with the owner of the shop. If anyone in northern California is interested in this type of package, send me an E-mail and I'll give you the details. I don't want to post it just yet until I make sure the owner is firm on the pricing. But I'll know within the next few days. Please don't think I'm trying to sell this thing or that I stand to make any profit. I'm a little confused, If my GM dealer were to reflash my truck, would the diablo tuning be gone for good? Or would it be a $150 download to reprogram it? <img border="0" title="" alt="[Confused]" src="images/icons/confused.gif" /> And you can't remove it and sell it? What's up with that. I think I'll just stick to my ol' -2hp kick in the pants hpp3 for now. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Roll Eyes]" src="images/icons/rolleyes.gif" />

So, if you're satisfied with the HPP3 and you're concerned that you may need to reflash the PCM for some reason, then there's no reason to switch. But the Predator is capable of returning programming back to stock. I suppose this is a form of reflashing in and of itself. Although I do agree that you should be able to remove the programming and re-sell the unit. And DiabloSport really needs to have a safeguard for this sort of thing. Maybe there already is one. Honestly, I don't know.

The Predator will NOT need resetting because of this. Pretty neat, huh? <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />
