Sweet, yeah I thought about buying your rear, but I have other things I need to worry about before I break my rear end (I'd imagine it's going to happen eventually though). Tell Blake to call me if yall need any help I'll be around.

Default Buy LS1 Edit or Have my car Dyno LS1 Tuned?

I have been considering purchasing LS1 Edit for my car, but AMS is running a special on full dyno tuning with LS1 edit on a dyno and with wideband o2 for $400, and will update for free as long as I own the car. Which one would be the better option for me? How hard is LS1 edit to use? What will AMS be able to do that I will not? How much more horsepower will they give me over me tuning it myself (im a complete beginner, but catch on to that kind of stuff fast)? Thanks in advance!

Hey, I'm in the same boat (as in needing tuning after my cam/headers/intake install) and have put a lot of thought into it. It's really better to get it tuned by someone.

Sure if you buy LS1-edit you have complete control all the time; however, you need some scaning and diaginostic tools to really TUNE the car. Autotap and the like work; however, tuning on the dyno with a WB is the ONLY way to go. And if they are offering free updates I'd jump on it (and I might).

BTW, you live in Dobie right and are friends with Blake? I'd like to see your car some times I've heard it's pretty cool.

Well, the costs are totally different. $400 for dyno tuning is good, depending on the results you get. Do you have heads/cam/headers or what? If you are done with mods, the $400 tuning may be fine...they can dial it in and you are done.

If you aren't done with major mods, then you'll probably want to re-tune stuff later as you change your combo....however, thats going to cost you $550 for ls1edit, $150/hr to dyno at colvins with A/F ratio, cost of a laptop, and a scan tool of some sort. If you have $1000+ to spend on this and are in LS1 stuff for the long haul, maybe this is the route to go for you.

I know I tinker with stuff all the time so I'd much rather have LS1 edit (the final results aren't my main goal, learning more about the car is my main goal), but for most people out there I think they'd be better off just getting it tuned and leaving it alone.

There's no real right answer to your question, its up to your budget and your future plans with the car.

If they offer free tunes for the remainder of the time you have the car, it's a no-brainer, to me... unless you are just a geek-head who likes to tinker, himself. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" /> Go for their tuning. Make sure they will re-tune if you change your mods.

You will have a learning curve with LS1-Edit and may never get the best tune unless you pay someone to do it.

AMS is located between Dallas and Fort Worth, Texas... in Arlington, Texas.

Thanks for the replies guys! I think I have made up my mind and will probably go with AMS for the tune.
