Default Looking for LS1 dyno tune - Montgomery AL

Any recommendations on a reputable shop near Montgomery AL that is good with our LS1's? Would like to know I'm getting the most out of what I have and go forward from there.

Thanx!

Professional Engine Services in Mobile, AL.

If you want DiabloSport Predator tuning please shoot me an email at bfb@runninwiththedevil.com.com and I will steer you in the right direction!

FWIW, I will be tuning a 2002 Corvette on the dyno this Tuesday, Dec. 17th, at 2pm, and then I will be tuning a 2001 Lightning as well on the same day, if time permits.

Sincerely...

What kind of dyno does Hesco use and do they have a wideband?

Colonel: HESCO has a wideband. Their Dyno is not a DynoJet, but I have had my Z28 dynoed on both HESCO's Dyno and a DynoJet over in Atlanta (DYNOLOAB, INC. in Marietta), and the results agreed pretty well.

SPEED DOG: was that your slick C5 (much enhanced) that I saw on the HESCO Dyno several weeks ago?

Lee and I have spent a lot of time dialing in the 436. At this point we've got it idling reliably, running without a stumble in traffic, and pulling like a train when no one's in front of me. These big blocks take a bit of time to get right, but they are phenomenal once you've done so.

I too don't know which dyno HESCO has, but I've been able to compare figures from it with those achieved at Ed Wright's and Lou Gigliotti's (both DynoJets). HESCO's appears spot on, and Lee Hurley is a wizard with tuning all sorts of things (NASCAR engines, Vipers, race boats with blown Chevy's and so forth). He and I have built a few race projects together, and the experience has always been first rate.

Hey: Speed Dog - HESCO did some good work on my '99 Z28 as well. I don't quite have the monster motor you have in your Corvette, but my "little" 382 LS1 is sure fun to drive. I also opted for an aluminum flywheel, which, combined with the increased torque of a stroker, makes driving on the street even more fun. I have yet to get it to a dragstrip. It ought to be interesting. It was a 12.5 sec car with just a heads/cam package.

Agree with the aluminum wheel. There is conroversy about this; some folks prefer the inertia of the steel wheel, others the fast response of the aluminum one. My engine revs effortlessly with the Fidanza: with the amount of torque it produces, driving around town is a hoot in almost any gear. The only problem I had was with idle: took some programming and a 13/64's hole in the TB to prevent the engine from dropping so far off idle that it shut down when I closed the throttle. Once we got that sorted out, however, all was well.

Hey, Speed Dog: have fun with your Corvette. Maybe we will cross paths at HESCO some time. I will be going back for some additional work on the dyno using their broadband O2 meter in a month or two.

Have you thought about going to "Steele International Dragway" up toward Gadsden to try your Vette out in the quarter mile?? I go up their off and on on Sunday, which is their Test-N-Tune day. They are open from 1 pm to 5pm.

Hey Chief,

Let us know where you end up going. I will need some tunning myself after I get my TR224 cam installed <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

I'm gonna head to the new shop in Trussville once they get up and running. Talked to some of the folks at Steele on Saturday and they seemed to be pretty confident/optimistic about the shop. Head over to www.bhamfbody.com and check out the posts. Perhaps we can road trip up there one afternoon together.

i got lucky finding this post,
im about to get headers with an ORP, so i will need some light "tuning?"
anyone know about how much it will cost to have HESCO or any of the others in the area do this for me?
i dont really know if i need a dyno-tune or whatnot
i was gonna wait and see if bhamracing.com was gonna have a group rate thing at the new walkerdyno in trussville, but i dont think they are at all familiar with LS1s

anyone? <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

I'm really not a drag racer, nor is the car setup for it. I spent years in all sorts of road racing, and my interests lie in running the twisties. I'm hoping Barber's new track will be open for club events, driver's days, etc. If so, I plan to run the car there (and perhaps Road Atlanta).

I chose my cam, rear gears, suspension tweaks, and so forth with road courses in mind. I'm waiting for a big brake package from LGM to complete the setup.

If you happen to get a bunch of guys (C5's, F bodies, etc.) together to run up to the drags let me know. I'd like to meet folks with similar interests.

Thanks.

Give Lee or Jeff a call (HESCO: 205-251-1472) and ask. They're great guys and reasonable, though not cheap (you know the old deal-speed costs money, how fast do you want to go). Tell them I sent you (says he with a grin). The great thing about Lee is that he'll take whatever time he needs to get the tune right. On my car, we spent two weeks or so sorting out some issues and getting them right. He's willing to tune cell by cell and table by table, if necessary (which he did for me).

Hope this helps.

I just ordered the predator today, I will have it tomorrow. Hopefully, I can go to the track friday night and get some times with it! Since my headers I've only be able to muster a sad 13.1@106. Not sure why I can't get back into the 12's? I will post results from this bad boy just incase you are interested in getting one.

Hey, SPEED DOG. Sad to say a bunch of us got together at Steele last Saturday. There were at least 2 Z06 Corvettes there, and many f bodies and mushtangs. Take a look at the Southern Section here on LS1Tech off and on. That is where this Steele deal was organized.

Have fun on the twisties!!

Hey guys,
I called Hesco and asked about prices to dyno and tune. I'm sure that they're quality guys, but at $75 bucks for a single dyno run and $800 for tuning, I can't justify it. I hope the trussville is a little more reasonable. Has anyone talked to Walker Dynotune (Trussville) yet and gotten any prices?
