Default best placement for O2 WB sensor?

Got LT's, cats and getting a custom catback made this week so I thought I'd go ahead and throw in the bung while the exhaust guy is workin on it.

Where is the best place to put it on these cars? I'm buying DynoTunes setup with digital gauge for the pillar.

I've thought about 3 places...before the cat, in the Y pipe collector and just over the axle before the split for my duals. Which one would be the best place for the most accurate reading?

after the cats, and if you have the exhaust going into a single pipe, that would be the best place so it reads both banks...

I would say before the cats but as close them as you can get. If it is post cat it will change the AFR reading some. I think is is .3 to .5 change. I like knowing what one bank is doing so I can compare the NB sensor with the wb.

Mine sits where my catalytic convertors would be if I had any...I haven't had any heat issues thus far, but if I do, I'll just put a heat sink there. I have access to an infrared temp gun, so I can keep pretty close tabs on it, and it rarely gets very hot (from what I saw it was ~300 *F just pointing it at the exterior casing).

Why post cat? wouldn't you want it pre-cat so that you know what a/f is actually being burned in the cylinders?

I was thinking the same thing, but I'll let the internet experts handle this one.

Ok, I can see after the cats being off...my tuner set my A/F at 12.5-12.8 and the A/F on the dyno was reading 12.8-13.3.

before the cats it is, it should be ok since I have stainless steel LT's.

everyone is an expert. put it before the cat, there's a writeup where you can put it where the regular front 02 goes in and have it read like a narrow band along with the WB. but it might be for a different WB, look it up. good luck

I don't think it will be an issue for you...if it is, Innovate sells a nifty (albeit expensive) heatsink bung extender (the HBX-1) that is sure to work. People use that behind turbos with nary a problem...who knows. Maybe my LC-1 is a ringer

Sorry about the controversy. When I said post cats I meant after you throw your cats in the trash can. If you still have to have cats then, place the sensor before them.

I'm keepin the cats...at least they are the good metalic ones that Kooks sells with thier Y pipe. Trying to keep some noise down...I don't like most exhaust notes LSx's produce. Can't wait to hear what my custom 3 Bullet catback sounds like next week

EFILive's LC-1 install instructions say in front of the cats if present, or at least 2-3 feet in front of the exhaust exit. They show the sensor right before the over the axle pipe. Having it further forward would be easier for wiring. Too far forward and I wonder about longevity and heat. Too far back, and I wonder about the readings.
