Gauges I have a 99' SS. When I start the car, the gauges peak, then drop back down before they work. This also resets my trip odometer. Is this normal? If not, whats wrong with it?
Re: Gauges hmmm i don't think that's normal, mine don't do that, and it definatley should be resetting the trip odometer... as for whats wrong, <shrug> have you SEEN the wires behind that dash??

Re: Gauges It is a 99 thing, mine does it all the time. There is a TSB out for temps below 32. The dealer will replace the cluster. Also, if you have a weak batt or dirty connection this will alos do it. Check your batt and conn.

Re: Gauges Wow, my car does the same thing and it pisses me off because I can't keep track of my mileage when it keeps resetting the trip odometer. I'll check my battery cable because it didn't start doing it until after my cam change and computer reprogram.

Re: Gauges I know exactly what that is. If its still under warranty take it to the dealership. I have a 99 T/A and my cluster did the same thing. The entire cluster has to be replaced in order to fix it. I did and mine works perfectly now. They said that it was a bad part in the cluster (I forgot which one), but the only way to fix it is by replacing the whole cluster. Hope this helps.

Re: Gauges Sorry to hear that. Unless someone knows a lot about how the electrons flow in that cluster, that is the only way I know to fix that all too common problem. Re: Gauges Just had the same thing. The culprit was not a loose conection in my case, it was a crack in the + terminal of the battery. They replaced the battery and no more problems. The service manger said that they see it all the time with all vehicles with that model Delco battery.Sounds like a design flaw to me.
