Default predator

well i was thinking about getting a computer tuner for my WS6 and i wanna make sure i get the right one before i go spend the money. i heard that on a 6-speed hypertech sucks *****. everone seems to be using the predator now over that. what can i adjust on it? i just have a bolt on car so i didnt think i needed to do something as fansy at ls1 edit, just wanted a little tuning to get some more ponies out of her. so what do you think? and what stat should i use? 180 or 160?

I've got a Predator for my 2002 SS and I like it. It's easy to use like the Hypertech but you can adjust the parameters. You can adjust the timing, A/F ratio, shift points, shift firmness, shift time, cooling fan temps, and some other points that I can't remember right now cuz my memory sucks. Check out the link on the right for all the info about the Predator.

As far as T-stats go I run a 160 degree on both my LS1's. I live in GA, the winters don't get too cold here and the summers are ridiculously hot. I haven't had any problems with running 160 t-stats. If you do get a cooler t-stat you'll want to have something to get your cooling fans to come on sooner i.e. hypertech, predator, or a cooling fan switch.

The Predator would work just fine. Don't waste your money on an HPP. They do next to nothing for HP/TQ. I've seen 2 dynos using the Predator on bolt on cars. One made 14 RWHP and the other made 19 RWHP. Both used the same basic formula which I originally read about on this board thanks to BfB. Install precanned performance tune, advance spark a full 2 degrees (10%), lean fuel trims 2-3%. That's about it. Both people said the car feels much stronger and runs smoother. My initial gain from just leaning the fuel trims was 7 RWHP. But I have since matched my tuning parameters to theirs and it feels much better. But I haven't put it on the dyno yet to verify. I'll take it in soon and see how it goes. It's very easy to use and adjustments can be made quickly.

A friend of mine has a pretty good deal going for the Predator. Send me an E-mail for pricing and info if interested.

can the predator be used on more than one vehicle at the same time? or is it like hypertech and its only good for one car at a time?

The Predator seems to be somewhere in between Edit and HPP3. I am getting mine in a few weeks. You should go with the 180 and adjust your fan temps and you should be fine.

You can only "tune" one car since it marries itself to the VIN. But you can run real time diagnostics on any LS1-based vehicle at any time. I plugged it into the DTP of a Hummer H2 about 3 weeks ago and was able to read it's fuel trims, timing, MAP, etc. You just can't make any adjustments. I think I was also able to view any SES codes, although it didn't have any.
