Quick question about ASR
traction control "brain box", an engine
compartment pulley cluster, and a different
throttle cable arrangement that you have to have
to make the whole contraption work.
And then, most people want to defeat it <img border="0" alt="[judgement]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_judge.gif" />
No for the reasons Cal stated because you don't have the actual mechanical hardware for it.
Yes though on the wiring side because GM is now "multiplexing" their wiring systems. This is particularly common on the truck side.
It is cheaper as well as less prone to electrical gremlins to make one wiring harness for all vehicles regardless of optional equipment.
I got a 4 channel rear end and a 3 channel car. You guys make it sound like I could just change the rear end, run the new brake line and add a new master cylinder to get traction control. I would also have to Install the Servo for the throttle cable, but that shouldnt be very hard. And I would need to add the traction control brain that is under the under the dash board to the left of the steering colummn. I would also have to add the switch.
From what I understand, all the wiring is already in place? And I would just have to plug all these parts in and I would be set to go?
I am also wondering if I would need a new PCM?
Thanks for any help,
Rob
you also need the abs module, not the master cylinder (big price difference

Where does this servo you spoke of plug in? And would I be able to install one?
I have been wanting to try and add traction control to my car for some time, so any info is appreciated.
Thanks,
Rob

the wiring goes to the wiring harness on the passenger side of the car, it is about 12" long, and in black splitloom, it has a 2 pin metripack connector on the end of it.
On my car, that has TCS, the wiring runs from the wiring harness bundle on that side, to the servo.
Hope that can help you identify if you have it or not.
