service vehicle light when maf disabled?
My service vehicle (not SES) light comes on whenever I disable my MAF by setting the Fail Frequency to 0 Hz to run in speed density mode. If I re-enable the MAF it goes away, is this normal? does everyone who runs in SD get this? I couldn't find anything in the Tuning 101 documents in the sticky. I set the DTC's for the first three (MAF) codes to "2-No MIL light" any ideas?

If you set the code to No MIL light, the SES light will not come on ... but some models have a Service Vehicle light which can be turned off by unchecking the SES box for the MAF codes.

OK, I tried the MAF Fail Freq = 1 and that didn't work.
I'm slightly worried to do this based on what i read in the TUNING 101 document in the sticky:
"2: Disable the SES lights for MAF codes P0101, P0102, P0103 (No check engine light.) Do not completely disable the codes or the PCM will not fall into SD mode. Only turn off the SES light, DO NOT DISABLE THE CODES THEMSELVES! "
Is it okay to uncheck that box as long as under Error Mode it reads "2-No MIL Light" and not "3-No Error Reported"?

Correct, do not select "No Error Reported" otherwise your vehicle will have problems running. The SES Enable is not what the SD Tuning Tutorial is talking about, it is talking about the error code to trip. SES Enable is for emissions reasons only (OBD-II scan). My 2001 Camaro SS has these settings for the MAF and it runs fine in SD mode without any light (permanent SD mode).
PO101 - 2 "No MIL Light" - unchecked "SES Enable"
PO102 - 2 "No MIL Light" - unchecked "SES Enable"
PO103 - 2 "No MIL Light" - unchecked "SES Enable"
PO101 - 2 "No MIL Light" - unchecked "SES Enable"
PO102 - 2 "No MIL Light" - unchecked "SES Enable"
PO103 - 2 "No MIL Light" - unchecked "SES Enable"

Scott, so long as the code is not set to 3 - "No Error Reported" it will go into SD mode. The first three are only how the ECM should trigger the fault for the diagnosis. Setting it to "No MIL Light" will still give a trouble code (HPTuner scanner will detect it), it just will not turn on the Service Engine Soon (SES) light like the 0 - "MIL on First Error" or 1 - "MIL on Second Error", but it will illuminate the Service Vehicle light ... hence why the SES Enable needs to be unchecked. At least that is how it works on my 2001 Camaro SS, trucks are similar with the exception that there is no Service Vehicle light ('99-'02).
