Default Weird 2nd gear rev limiter problem

Hey guys!

I have my TSP H/C all finished up and had it tuned by Dragons Breath in Knoxville, TN and have a small problem.
We raised the rev limiter to 7k in all gears, but at about 6500 in 2nd the car hits the rev limiter every time! We first thought that the car was just revving faster than the stock tach could read, but it doesnt matter if you are on the gas running the car hard or just part throttle easing up in the RPM's it hits it every time but only in 2nd.
I just bought EFILive to play around with and to make any changes that I need to make on down the road. I checked the rev limiters this morning and they are set to 7k in every gear.

Dont get me wrong I am in NO way bashing DBP!!! Bob is a great guy and tuner, but I am out of ideas!!!

Anybody???

Thanks!!

Well...I am no help, but i am from knoxville, and next time i come home i am probably gonna do my heads/cam install then. Would you recommend this shop to tune it, and if so, where are they located? Are they in the phonebook?

I had the set the rev-limit in the cells that weren't associated with a particular gear in HPTuners to correct a similar problem. That may not be the fix, but it's an easy place to start.

Post the file and I'll see if I can take a look. I finally solved a 2nd gear limiter problem.

Thanks guys I will try and see if I can post the tune file later tonight.

98SS1LWEE, I would definately recommend Bob and Dragons Breath Performance. Like I said he a great guy and not only a good tuner but a good wrincher as well. He is a supporting vendor over on the corvetteforum. He has a link there to his site which contains all of his contact info.

Thanks!!

I had a similar problem. I set my rev limiter to 7000 but left it at 5000 in park/neutral. I was attempting to make it like a 2 step so I could put gas to floor with clutch in.

Well for some reason it would only rev to 5000 in 1st and 2nd gear and 7000 in all others.

I never really got an asnwer.

Do you have 6500 rpm as the fuel shut off anywhere?

Full-Force, its funny that you post this!!! I checked the tune last night and found that the park/nuetral settings were at 6500. I thought that maybe the problem was that the PCM was reading the car to be in nuetral. I changed the settings but havent reflashed yet, but plan on doing that this evening and taking the car for a spin.

Keep your fingers crossed!!!!

Thats totally different. You set your park/neutral settings the same as what the gears are and your problem is fixed, Im pretty sure.

Well I finally got to drive the car tonight and the changes that I made to the park/neutral setting fixed the problem. It revs right on up now no problem!!!

Now I just need to lean out and add a little timing to the idle to clean it up a tad and I will be happy. Well for a while anyway!!!

Thanks for the interest guys!!
