Default Loss of communication??? Long Read, Please Help

I have the following mods in my sig. Recently my car has been acting up. As I hit the high rpm's my speedo and rpm gauges go crazy and then when I slow down to idle it dies out. Last night the car died on me and fuel meter was reading empty when it had a half tank. After letting it sit for awhile I turned the ignition on and it read 1/2 tank, almost like the ecu is screwed up or something. A friend of mine told me that I was getting a code for loss of communication. I noticed that sometimes the fuel pump won't go on and thats when the car won't start and some it does. Is there a power wire and ground that power the ECU. Sorry for the long read.

not sure..depends on if i have to motor in or not. its a tight fit, but it does sound like a grounding issue. it could be slightly loose. that would cause it.

If it is a ground problem would the loss of communication have to be the ground to the head. Is this the ground and power supply for the ecu.

the ground yes. not the power. its been a while since i looked at it, but you have 1 wire on the pass. side and i think 2 or 3 on the driver side. it would be easier to pull the intake and check. think about it like this. its intermittent right? so under certain instances it happens which mean its a fluctuation in power or ground. if the wire ends are broken from overtightening then under the heavy load and vibrations from WOT could cause it to shake loose. that for the most part is hypothetical though. It could be a pinched wire just as well. best thing to do would be to log it and record so we can see exactly whats happening or at least try to

I don't have anyone one to do a log for me.

I had a similar issue in a buddy's car... a main power wire ran too close to his headers and it got burnt and 'welded' itself to the header. Massive electrical problems would be an understatement...

JD - I had a very similar sounding problem to what you describe. The gounds on the back of the left head had come loose.

If you stand on the left side of the vehicle and reach between the manifold and left head with your left hand, you should be able to get your hand on it. A set of flex head gear wrenches makes it a lot easier to tighten it up.

If that ground is good, I would start tracing all the main power and ground cables.
