Default Wideband Discussion and Poll

I have been researching Widebands and Tuning Software for the last week and I’ve finally decided to purchase EFILive for tuning. Now I need a wideband and I’d like to get some input from you all.

In my poll I have included what I feel to be the best five Wideband Controllers within the same general price range. I based this on the following:

Tuning Software Compatibility
O2 Sensor Options
Accuracy
Perceived Quality
Popularity
Price

Now, I’d like to have everyone that has actually used the above products vote for the wideband they would recommend, and list why.

Also, list any technical benefits and or limitations of each.

For my application I will be using EFILive to scan and tune a car with no catalytic converters, and unladed race fuel may come into the picture down the road.

Thanks!

if you want to install it in your car and leave it, i would say go with the LC-1. if you want to take it out and put it back in and help others, grab the lm-1

i have a lm-1 so i'm going to vote for that

make a "other" choice. I have a zeitronix wideband, and although a lot of people here dont like it because it doesnt interface well with HPT or EFI, I have great experience using it, and I tune with LS1 Edit. The zeitronix fits nicely where I have it mounted and I like it because it includes a boost and EGT gauge for when I eventually go boosted. I have ran it quite a few times while dynoing and it is accurate also, and has datalogging capability.
It may not be for everyone, but it works great for me. And after all the issues with the LM and LC's im kinda glad I didnt get one of those.

I vote for the LM1 or LC1. I have had both and the Zeitronix and would rather use narrowbands then the zeitronix. Didn't last long and poor customer service.

While searching, I found several threads regarding inconsistent and broken Innovative products.

Are the others just not chiming in on this? Or has innovative improved recently?

Innovative defiantly had an edge on price.

This is true, and this thread can provide a place for the positive comments and votes.

I personally think that what really separates the wideband controllers is their compatibility with both the Bosch and NTK sensors.

For those considering race fuel, the NTK sensor is a must.

I've used a PLX, Innovative, Twin Tech, Tech Edge, and AEM.

I have owned all of the above except for AEM.

Twin Tech and Tech Edge have been the most accurate (in relation to our twin pump dynojet wideband). My LM1 and everyone else I've seen has been about .5 point off at wide open but pretty damn close every where else.

The AEM was really close except for at idle but the car had a turbo on it... so that may have something to do with it. IT would start to report AFR's in the 11's at a idle but the block learns where all very nice and you couldn't smell anything out the exhaust. On top of that the dynojet read fine.. so something was goofy with the AEM. Probally placment had most to do with it.

You know its funny. I've been tuning since the only option was the DIY-wb. Anyone else remeber DIY-wb.org or something like that? Tech edge was the first guys to offer an affordable hobbiest wideband.

From what I've read on this site, I think LM1 is the way to go.

I have had several customers that thought they were defective when in reality they were just setup incorrectly. After they were setup properly and the right grounds used, they worked fine. FYI

FJO here.
3 years continuous use and no problems. I like it because of the high sampling/reporting rate. The pillar gauge is nice.

LC-1 here. had it in the car for about a year now. Thought I had a jacked up sensor last week (first problem I've ever had with it) but I recalibrated the other day on a whim and it's all good now

I have the fjo, I think they have very good quality, and I like the option of the ntk sensor. Like was already said the sampling rate is high. Also you can wire multiple units and monitor all eight primaries if you wanted to, with only 4 units. I plan to use it to trigger my old rebuilt meth setup as a 2nd backup system, and have it trigger at a given afr for safety. Also it will interface with all the other fjo products for my car. Plus I can activate from duel egt sensors if I want. Or from two diff 5 volt inputs. It has data logging and ongoing upgrades for free. Dan

I have the FJO integrated with my Maximizer and its has been running solid for about 4 monthes. The FJO Software is really something and I could not ask for anything more.

The only issue I have is after a WOT run my AFR jumps up to 20.1 for a couple of seconds but maybe thats notmal.

I had an LC-1 that didn't work out of the box. It was set up correctly, but the unit itself was broken. Sent it back for a replacement and it works great.

I have ran an LC1 in my Z06 now for about a year and have had no problems at all. I just put two LC1's in my 67 Firebird last month and they are also working without problems. The setup and wiring can be a little tricky at first with the LC1, but it is really not that hard if you read the entire manual a couple of times.
