Cluster question

air bag light will go on if there's a failure somewhere that's detected... it should be setting a code if the car's scanned...
No way that I'm aware of to turn the light off (I would imagine disconecting the battery for a while could reset it, but if it's a real fault being detected, it'll just come back) ... any scanner that can also scan the BCM should be able to pickup the airbag code

ok when a car is wrecked and the air bag deploys the air bag light will illuminate right? well mine was wrecked, now fixed and have a light. so should i disconnect the battery? i have had it scanned and nothing came up. i even put in a different cluster in there and no light came on so could it be a malfunction in the light itself? or should i try to reset the whole dang thing. b/c thats one thing that hasent been done.

I'm not sure how GM does it?I work on Inifiniti's. If a bag has been deployed the sensor that caused the deployment has to be replaced as well as the diagnostic unit (Air Bag Computer). The diagnostic unit has a sensor in it aswell. Codes and lights can't be turned off or erased with out our hand held computer (consult). I'd take it to the dealer.Good luck.

You have to have the new air bag married to the gauge cluster.....
Take it to any good auto repair shop or GM dealership.
It takes like 5 min. with a special edit tool, i forgot the proper term for it, to fix the problem......
Shouldn't be more then $40.........

not sure the guy is a friend of the family, he works for a highly reputated body shop here in savannah. he said he can get the machine that they use. but i want to make sure it wont affect my tune for my cam.
