Help with ditching SLP MAF for stock unit Ok, my car has an SLP MAF unit and its awful. My car accelerates all by itself from time to time and I can't stand it anymore. It's been to the dealership about 3 times and I know they've screwed with the computer to try and get it to where it doesn't accelerate on its own but nothing has worked. I'm putting the original MAF back on, what do I need to do after I hook up the stock MAF as far as the computer goes. Is there a way to erase whatever the dealership did and return my car to stock?

1) I dont have any friends with camaros or firebirds
2) I really want to dump the SLP MAF and just go with my stock one
I guess my question is:
What will happen if I replace the SLP MAF with the stock unit without doing anything to the computer? Will it be ok or will it run crappy?

your car is tuned for the slp maf and going to stock would require tuning software. You may have never had your car dynotuned and would need to do so for your slp maf to function properly. If your car is still tuned for the stock maf, which may be the case, you would not run into trouble by going back to stock. I have stock maf for 60 shipped if interested. Good luck

very unlikely the dealership has tuned the car for the SLP MAF ... so all they've done is probably apply the latest GM Calibrations....
If that's the case then there's no additional tuning to go back to stock (the SLP MAF is supposed to emulate a stock MAF and work with stock PCM though)
unless the dealership owns aftermarket tuning software and used that to change your MAF tables... it's doubtful they did any tuning... put the stock MAF back in (non ported with screen preferred) and see if it helps... shouldn't hurt anything

1 other thing to consider.. a vacuum leak can also cause the car to accelerate on its own, I would hope the dealership would have found any vacuum leaks... but assuming your car is internally stock... this is something that will cause a "surge" regardless of mods or MAF

no its the MAF, i was getting error codes too that had something to do with the MAF voltage I think.
Also, do I need to reset my computer by pulling those fuses and letting it sit for 5 min. or whatever the procedure is for that?
