Default Bought V2 efilive...can I sell V1?

Im about to upgrade my V1 efilive to V2.
My V1 has 3 unused licenses.
Can another person use them without any problems?
I know I can transfer the licenses but would like to make some money off the V1 if I can.
Seems like a waste of a box.

The v2 has 2 unused already on it that I can use.

If you dont transfer any licenses then you can sell it with the 3 useable.
Either way efilive will not sell any new licenses for that cable as its an upgraded unit.
You will just need to connect both at once to enable your new v2 using the activate function.

The upgrade was a cheaper option I believe as it was intended as a upgrade , they just saved you the bother of sending your old cable back , your old V1 was then intended to be used as a spare scan only tool and as such new licenses cant be bought for it.

If its money that is the driving factor why upgrade , functionality between the V1 and V2 is unchanged other then V2 does CAN BUS

once the software catches up with V2, laptop wont be needed for most things.
At least thats what I believed when I upgraded.

Eventually the V2 is going to have greater capability, but now you can't do blackbox logging with it - and it seems like that situation will remain for some time. For strictly LS1 tuning, V1 is going to do everything you need to do. And you can always upgrade later.

I emailed the other day and the guys over at EFI-Live said they were working on this as fast as they can. I have done work on my own embedded system and somethings things that look right in code go bonkers when you hit the debug button. Software is a blackart. In this case, not having a legion of people working for them probably isn't helping since they are designing a unit of quality I would expect from a huge corporation producing 1xx,xxx units.

I guess the end result will prove worth the wait and we will just have to realise thats the price we have to pay. But, I guess we get free upgrades for life on a product that is going to support cars coming out for many years.

I sure hope so. I bought V2 for two reasons; 1) it's required to tune my TB SS and 2) tuning without a laptop. I honestly prefer V1 because I never had problem connecting to any vehicle, but with V2 it's hit or miss.

Believe me. I am in the exact same boat. I got V2 in Oct 2006 because my favorite laptop died. It was old and the onboard memory failed meaning no possible repair. They dont even sell that type of memory anyways. I didn't want to buy another craptop. I waited and waited and finally a couple of months ago I just got another craptop. Heh.

I paid more for V2 because I thought I could just get V2, a Sandisc memory card, and avoid buying another laptop. Lower investment with less equipment in the car.

Let me add to Sir Paul's info. Also on the immediate horizon is the advent of the release of the WB serial direct input to the V2. That's right kiddies, no more analog to serial to analog woes...cut out the middle man! Better yet, the most economical, widely used, and often most misunderstood WB on the market, the LC-1, is scheduled to be the first bull in the shoot for this dramatic firmware/ system performance upgrade.
