Default flip a switch to a different tune

my tuner said that he could wire my car to flip a switch and it would automatically tune the car for the nitrous... i was wondering if anyone has heard of this and what you guys think?

yes you can do that. You can wire in a potentiometer and when you hit the switch the PCM will pull a few degrees of timing.

I think EFILive has a OS that can pull timing for nitrous also.

You don't need a special OS.... A resistor can be used with a relay to force the IAT's input into an unused area; this will allow changes to both timing and fueling (via PE modifier) that are active only when armed.

EQ ratio is Stoich / target AFR ....... 14.628(stoich) / 12.8 (desired AFR) = EQ of 1.143.

Once your VE/MAF are calibrated you will hit your target EQ

Tuning for a "dry" or MAF related/compensated shot of N20 does not require anything other than a spot on MAF tune. You will be limited on how big of a shot that the MAF can compensate for. Typically most consider the 150 shot, the max for the dry shot.

With proper safety equipment the "Wet" shot will support a bigger hit for sure.

The EFI Live Custom OS, which is free, can pull timing and add fuel independent of the MAF or IAT settings-which, in order to get max motor performance should be left alone(besides an adj pot with the IAT).

You can pull timing by flanagling the IAT settings with a switch or pot.

For the OP, what are your overall goals for the car? What mods do you currently have? What do you expect/need the N20 to do?

My MAF and VE is dialed in.

Pretty much anyone with HPT, EFI Live or other software that logs and allows access to change the tables can calibrate their MAF and VE tables. Its the basis of learning tuning.
