Anyone have tuning done by Rapid motorsports?

Re: Anyone have tuning done by Rapid motorsports?
I am going to get my car tuned by Mikey on Tuesday. I can only say this about rapid. Mickey is the best guy I've ever delt with, customer service and his knowledge is top notch. I live in Cleveland Ohio which is 7 hours from Rapid. There are plenty of shops between me and Rapid. But it's well worth the trip.
As for the tune? I'll let you know on Wed. But I doubt it will be anything but perfect.

Mikey tuned my car on the dyno after installing an ARE 346 shortblock. I already had a JPR S2 heads and cam package. I think I picked up 15-20 HP over the stock tuning, and the driveability is almost perfect- probably as good as you can expect from a 224/224 112 LSA cam.

Re: Anyone have tuning done by Rapid motorsports?
Ok heres the specs and results.
I have ARE stage 2 heads and a 224 228 114 cam. All bolt ons. I'm not sure on the baseline of the car as Ed Wright had it so lean that Mickey was scared to make a full pull with Ed's tuning.
It only took Mike 3 pulls to fully tune the car. On the second pull it was very close to perfect. AF was between 12.8 and 13.1 for the entire rpm range. With a little tweaking of the fuel table, and removing some unneeded timing. The final pull was. 12.9 to 13.0 for the entire rpm range. I wasn't excited with the numbers. It was 384 at 6400. I feel with the mods I have, the combo should make more power but I can't blame that on the tune.
The car runs much smother now and doesn't seem to have the flat spots it used to. Idle is also a bit better it doesn't surge as much as it used to.
I won't know exactly the improvment in ET till I get my clutch fixed and get back to the track.
I would recommend Mickey he was very efficent and knew what he was doing.
Now to figue out why this combo wont make the power it should.

Re: Anyone have tuning done by Rapid motorsports?
Rob, Glad to hear you are happy with the tune, that's very reassuring. I would think you would see over 400rwhp with that combo. I also heard somewhere that Mikey's dyno reads about 15rwhp lower than others. My friend dynoed at his place with FLP's, Loudmouth, lid, TB, M6, tuning, and some other boltons and only saw 330/337 rwhp/rwtq. If the 15rwhp low rumor is right, that would put his car about where it should be and put your car closer to where it should be too. Only the track time will tell the tale. I'll let you know how mine turns out, I'm scheduled for tuning June 6th.

I was hoping for at least 400. But your right only track time will tell. If I have some kind of problem I sure don't have a clue what it could be. It runs great and pulls hard. Keep me posted on what you make. I'm curious if this dyno does read light.

I know that dyno is low- I dynoed 422 at JD's in New Jersey, and only 392 at that dyno Mikey uses. The 422 RWHP was with a bad tune and a shot bottom end, the 392 RWHP was with Mikey's tune and a fresh ARE shortblock- I should have gained power. This is with JPR S2 heads and TR 224/224 112 LSA cam.

That reassuring for me. Have you been back to the track since the fresh tune? How are you track times and MPH?
I still haven't made it to the track. Maybe tonight if I can get my clutch fixed.
Thanks Rob

I'm heading to Bristol tonight if it doesn't get rained out- we haven't had very good luck with weather here lately- had hail earlier today. I haven't run at the track yet with the fresh shortblock and tune- wanted to put some break-in miles on her first. I'll post some results tomorrow if I get a chance to run tonight, but everyone runs 3-4 tenths slower at Bristol thanks to the track being 1500 ft. above sea level.

No I'm still having clutch probems I'm trying to work out. Hopefully I can get it figured out tonight. I'm susposed to be heading to Bowling Green on Friday. If I get it fixed fast enuff tonight I might hit the track tonight.
