Why not run in speed density and omit the MAF? Or can the LS2 and LS7 not be programmed to run in speed density?

I know on LS1s it's possible (Harlan runs a dual MAF for his boosted application) However, unless you're going lots of boost it's probably not worth the hastle (especially now that there are custom 2/3 bar operating systems out there)

I think a small integrated circuit (which type ???) would handle it. It would need to be capable of recieving 2 signal inputs and have a programmable single output. Then a MAF calibration adjustment in the PCM would polish it off. (There might be more to consider)

I think Harlan might have had resources that allowed him to do that.

That orange Ram Air GTO(Woodward) that was made by GM had twin MAF's. They said it was a nightmare to tune.

Assuming there is no airflow limit, floating point OS, there is no need for twin MAFs. You could build the sender into any tube and as long as you position it ok and calibrate it to the characteristics of that intake you are good to go.

You can't just add the signals together. It would require a whole new OS and too many engineering hours.

An SD tune would be way easier to do.

Default Twin MAF's

Back in 97 we tried the idea on dual MAFS on my Boosted LT1, there was no signal problem, the problem was that the MAFs were not seeing an ideal split of 50/50 on the intake air flow, one would register like 60% and the other at 40% and of course this would differ on every pull. It was just an idea at the time, I just ended up tuning with my stock maf and all was fine...

That is very interesting info! How did you connect them to the PCM? Any other results?

Funny how stuff works, huh?

Default twin mafs

I really do not remember how the electronics were hooked up. I actually did not do the electrical part just the mechanical of fabricating the intake tube for the dual mafs..This was quite a while back..
